My grocery bill was off by $5.89

I went grocery shopping at Walmart today. I noticed there were discrepancies while I shopped. I got home and added up my grocery bill.

I bought Hamburger Helper. It was 3 for $4.00. On the bill, it was 3 x $2.47 = $7.41. The discount taken off was $1.42. That equals $5.99, but it was suppose to be $4. So it was off by $1.99

I bought bread. It was 2 for $5.00. Two bread was 2 x $2.77 = $5.54. On the bill, $0.54 was taken off so it was correct (just to show it wasnt all mistakes)

I bought 6 boxes of Cheese Nibs. It was 3 box for $7.00 so 6 boxes was to be $14.00. I was charged 6 x $2.98 = $17.88. The discount was $1.41. That equals $16.47 so I was overcharged $2.47

When I added up all the items using a calculator, the bill total was $137.88. But on the bill, I was charged $139.31. I was overcharged $1.43.

Those three mistakes totaled $1.99 + $2.47 + $1.43 = $5.89.

I havent decided if Im going back to get it corrected. (They would have to add up 51 items). I'm currently going through some higher than usual anxiety* and my sister went with me as a result. She would have to take me. So yes, I have to reduce my anxiety, get a job, and find a place by the start of February.

I was at the store a few months back and the cashier rang the most expensive item I had twice, adding about $36 to my total. Because I always have a pretty good idea of the total, I stopped after I got the receipt, found the error, and took it back to her. Of course, she called the manager over to correct it. No apology, just mild irritation at me catching her mistake.

One occasional problem for me is the wrong code being entered when something is being weighed.

Another problem that hit a time or two was something inadvertently touching the edge of the scale, so the weight was much higher than it should have been.

Then I have to point out where in the circular it indicates that the item is on sale. Then the lazy ass cashier has to wander over to the area where the item is shelved and check the tag there. Then comes the argument. This is where my taser comes in handy.

I buy most of my groceries from Walmart. I can't remember the last time I found a mistake in pricing. More likely is that the clerk (or me in self checkout) double scanned an item. I do shop nearly weekly at a chain grocery store also due to the weekly sale items. Besides the weekly sale prices advertised, they use a lot of digital coupons (you go online and have to click on a coupon each week to load it into their rewards app). I seem to frequently find errors in the pricing of the sale items. About half the time I later find out (by going online to check) that it was my fault for not loading the digital coupon into the app.

This is why I watch the total as it's being rung and ascertain the correct total before I even pull my card out of my purse.

Cheap labor = cheap effort. What I've found happens 9/10 is price signage isn't updated. There's a Dollar General I go to near me for candy and snacks, and almost every time there's a price discrepancy cuz the price tag is from like 9 months ago. I don't hassle them about honoring the posted price, I just politely encourage them to do their job and put up a new price sign, quite possibly one of the easiest tasks in the universe.
