You should buy another male Beta fish, put it in the same tank and watch them fight. That's more entertaining. ;)

You need a heater in that bowl, my friend!

Run about 10 bucks. They're tropical fish!

If I recall correctly, male beta fish, for the most part, live in solitude in basically what could be described as mud puddles.

Very warm mud puddles in rice patties, yes. And it gets quite warm in said "mud puddles" ;)

The pet store said a fish bowl will be fine.

The pet store is full of shit, especially if you live in an area where you have this thing I've never experienced called "winter". Trust me. Most pet shops are full of shit.

Yep! During the rainy season these large bodies of water form - the fish end up in them from other areas, bodies of water, etc., and as they start to dry up, they end up, often secluded, in these little puddles that eventually dry up and suffocate the fish. It's quite lovely. The betta fish trade is one of the top profits for asian countries in the aquarium trade... so many different strains and varieties, it's quite astounding.

Fish are decorations--not pets.

Guppies are! ;) They breed like rabbits and require almost minimal care. Unless you're going fancy thoroughbred Endler guppy status, then hoo boy! They get pricey for good strains ;)

I can't view it. I am on my iTouch but I viewed another YouTube video just a minute ago... I'll try on my laptop later on. What's the title of your video, I'll try looking at it another way.

They're ideal pets for school. ;)

I guess anything you can flush would be great while you are in school--a pet should be something you can love, hold, and of course pet.

I say give it to Leo as a treat.

Pork Chop, you need to teach Leo some manners! Fish are friends, not food!

Leo is so single minded and dedicated. What patience. Cute little puttytat

Well, aren't i glad i found this thread !! NOT !! FIRST OF ALL - why are we saying Betta FISH -- there are no Betta -Cows or Betta Horses - or Betta Dogs Betta's ARE fish -- totally redundant - like TUNA FISH !! WE don't say Beef - Cow -- so why Tuna Fish ....... ANYWAY -

i HAVE BEEN KEEPING bettas (Saimese Fighting Fish) Betta Splendens - since 1958. They don't require actual added heat -- if you can keep their water temp at least 70 degrees. 74 or much higher would be "betta" (hehehe) but 70 would be the absolute minimum - and hopefully not for long periods of time..
They do prefer shallow water - with little current - but can survive in a 10 gallon aquarium with CERTAIN other fish - not just any old fish - with long fins - because they will chew on some other fish - and then there are some fish that will chew on their long fins too !! Their average lifespan - with good care and a high proteiin diet should be around 3 years !! Yes they can and do live that long....with good care.. and no cats fucking with them...
GARAWR - i need to talk to you about GUPPIES !!! Endlers indeed !!! heheehe !!

So, is Leo hard headed and diligent or just slow to catch on?

My cat ' Princess NeNe, Shilo, Suri, Jolie, Pitt loves water. I have to pull her out of the shower etc. It's a good thing shes not there, as that fish would be long gone.
