  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

My local gas price is now 1.99. What's yours?

$4.99 per gallon, in Eastern North Carolina where I live. I save 30 cents per gallon using a store discount card.

I bought gas yesterday at $4.29 per gallon in West Palm Beach. Prices as usual are higher in Palm Beach Gardens. I saw several places at $4.79 a gallon there.

At some point, I figure that the world, especially Europe, will have to cut off all oil and natural gas from Russia to further isolate them economically. When that happens, expect energy prices to rise even higher, and expect to see shortages.

Some of us need a truck and can't afford a second vehicle.

I'm keeping my eye on development of electric trucks -- it's starting to sound like useful ones are very close now.

Meanwhile, I just might raise what I charge people for hauling stuff!

Define "need." I would like to file a grievance if we existed for centuries before it was invented it's no more of a need than every Will Smith movie since Independence Day. Yes that incudes Bagger Vance. Yes that includes the superhero movie. Yes that includes the one with the dog. Yes that includes Irobot, "every" is an all-encompassing word.

It's about £1.65 for a litre at the moment. Fortunately, I don't drive many miles and haven't needed to buy petrol since December. I still have about a quarter of a tank left.

Oil dropped under $100 a barrel so everyone should see a drop. Of course they’re not going to go down as fast as they went up.

^ It's supply and demand. Oil companies control the supply in order to get the price they demand.

$4.05 for unleaded regular, which is down from what it was. I assume the release of oil reserves is the reason.

I hope people will avoid driving with the high prices.
I have a colleague that lives 20 minutes from work and still drives his fancy Porsche to work.

EUR 2.202 Litre

Yes and no -- there are a limited number of refineries and that sets the limit on the supply (the U.S. has needed two more refineries since the early 1990s, but regulators have refused to approve them). Other than OPEC and a few fellow travelers, most oil companies will pump as much as they can sell -- but when the market gets tight, they're perfectly happy to enjoy the resulting rise in what they can sell for.

At least he's not driving an American SUV that only gets 14mpg.

I paid $3.95 for one gallon of gas for my new edger/trimmer on Saturday. Yesterday I noticed prices were generally around $3.99 per gallon in my immediate area.

$3.94 here yesterday.

While big oil is making over $50 billion in record profits. Exxon made $9.8 Billion in record profit just in the first quarter of 2022.

Don't tell me it is "inflation" due to increased "cost", and don't tell me the gas prices are Biden's fault.

$3.63 value card members get another $.10 off.
