Conrad Black and Rob Ford — two fools in one room keep the lies coming

Mayor Gaga just keeps the hits coming.

Zooming to the tops of the charts — on Zoomer TV Monday night — was the latest tissue of lies issued by Rob Ford, a man who wouldn’t know the truth if it bit him on those elephantine flanks.

For this particular bundle of tripe from our crack-smoking, gang-slumming, vulgarity-spewing chief magistrate, the enabling arrived courtesy of Conrad Black, the disgraced former global media baron whose pontifications have now nosedived from the pages of The Telegraph in London to up-dial cable channel television in Toronto.

Who better, really, to interview a shameless politician than a shameless felon?

yes that's it shameless felon interviewing a shameless politician. thanks Rosie

It's Dougie's turn to be in the spotlight. Query: Where does a cup of coffee cost 20 dollars?

The controversial brother of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has been accused of buying votes after he was caught handing out a stack of $20 bills to residents of an Etobicoke public housing building.

CBC News recorded Coun. Doug Ford who, like his brother, has been a lightning rod for controversy throughout the crack cocaine scandal playing out at city hall, handing out a stack of cash to voters Wednesday night.

The revelation has led to accusations of vote buying by the wealthy Fords from at least two city councillors.

"This is how rich people buy votes," tweeted Coun. Joe Mihevc.

The councillor defended his actions on Thursday, telling the Globe and Mail that is entirely up to him how he chooses to spend his money.

“There’s no difference in going to Tim Hortons, waiting in line and getting gift certificates,” he told the newspaper. “I didn’t have time. I went and bought toys for kids. The parents were standing there, so I gave them $20 to go buy themselves a coffee.

What a load of bullshit! Ford's 'apology' to Daniel Dale:

I want to take this opportunity to clarify my comments made in an interview with Conrad Black and to apologize to Daniel Dale for the way in which the media has interpreted my statements.

I never called Mr. Dale a pedophile. I have never used that word to describe Mr. Dale. I do not believe Mr. Dale is a pedophile, nor did I intend to suggest that with my comments.

My comments to Conrad Black were in context of my worst experiences with the incredible assault by media, particularly the Toronto Star, on me and my family.

My comments related to the fear I had for my family, when my long-time neighbour told me that someone was lurking at my fence and appeared to be taking pictures of my family home over the fence.

To be clear, I never personally saw Mr. Dale peering over the fence or taking pictures. My neighbour told me, however, that he saw somebody doing this.

He's correct when he says he never called Dale a paedophile:

Daniel Dale in my backyard taking pictures. I have little kids. When a guy’s taking pictures of little kids, I don’t want to say the word, but you start thinking, you know, what’s this guy all about?

Close enough in my books. Everyone knows what word he didn't want to say.

He did not apologize he just justified his actions of being a bully.

Lets hope the libel suit goes on.

The suit was continuing after Dale demanded a full apology and retraction. Ford relented:

“Finally there was absolutely no basis for the statement I made about Mr. Dale taking pictures of children, or for any insinuations I made,” Ford wrote.

“I should not have said what I did and I wholly retract my statements and apologize to Mr. Dale without reservation for what I said.

“I sincerely hope that Mr. Dale will accept my personal apology for my comments and all harm my words may have caused him.”

^ I heard on the morning news that he had tried to call an emergency council meeting on Saturday to settle the matter. Council refused.

Ford accused them of 'grandstanding'.

Ummm... No thanks:

WASHINGTON - A petition to make Rob Ford an honorary U.S. citizen hasn’t garnered much support so far.

The petition appears on the White House website under the headline: “Proclaim Robert Bruce ’Rob’ Ford, the 64th Mayor of Toronto, An Honorary Citizen of the Unites States of America.”

Fourteen people had signed it by Sunday night.

The petition had been on the website since Jan. 3, and even though it had received a bit of media attention, that didn’t exactly appear to have spurred a great public stampede toward the cause.

The tongue-in-cheek petition says: “(Ford) has at once demonstrated an exceptional proclivity to act for the greater good and been the subject of horrifying political attacks. The evidence demonstrates the attacks are motivated by Mayor Ford’s unwavering adherence to good governance over the interests of his political opponents.”

It goes on to say: “Mayor Ford is clearly a hero of humanity who deserves the very best. We therefore petition (President Barack) Obama to declare Mayor Ford an Honorary Citizen of the United States.”

I really don't care if someone is rich and has lots of things but I do care when that person votes against everything that might help the poor to have a decent standard of living. And if that person has many places to live then why vote to shut down shelters.

The mayor and his Toronto councilor brother, Doug, who consistently portray themselves as “regular folks” to voters, are believed to be worth millions from their company, Deco Labels, which they inherited from their father. Their exact worth is unknown, given that Deco is a privately-owned company, but the Fords also own multiple properties in Toronto and Muskoka and the company has revenue estimated in the tens of millions.

Believe me - Major Rob Ford would make a welcome change to the guy we call the leader of our country. Jacob Zuma is called the "president" of South Africa. He have managed to survive being fired by the ruling party, a couple of dodgy government tender investigations (money stealing), a rape case and recently stealing US$25 Million of tax payers money to "upgrade" security at his palace while his mindless supporters lives in utmost poverty.

He has 6 wives and believes woman should lie at his feet to show "respect".

I myself and many South Africans will take people like mayor Rob Ford at the drop of a hat to rule our cities or our country.....

As an alternative we have his ex-puppet as political opposition (Julius Malema) with an IQ of 34.... In SA terms Rob Ford seems like a genius...

i guess here in Toronto we do have a higher expectation from our municipal leaders. Unfortunately we don't have a way to kick them out of office. Sad Really.

But Our Mayors do not rule our city they just are a member of council with one vote.

keeps it clean.

Here they are elected for life....Corruption and dictatorship is the African way....

Olivia Chow On Toronto: "I Love This City And I Think We Deserve A Lot Better Than Rob Ford"

Maybe this will be our next Mayor. BTW Strombo is so hot.

I like where he says "I'm a straight up guy"................really?

^ What little credibility he had left is gone now. I still don't understand why some people support him. He's a blight on the city.
