  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

My Mayor smokes crack............does yours.

Ford needs to change his name to Rob Ford-Putin. He needs a flag pole shoved up his ass.

As the Olympics officially got underway in Sochi, Russia on Friday, a storm began brewing back in Canada over a movement to protest the host country's anti-homosexual laws.

While several Canadian cities chose to fly rainbow flags outside their city halls to show support for Russia's homosexual community and protest recently-passed laws criminalizing homosexual "propaganda," Toronto Mayor Rob Ford reportedly demanded city officials strip down its rainbow flag just moments after it was hung at Nathan Phillips Square.

"This is about being patriotic to your country, this is not about someone's sexual preference. No, I do not agree with putting out a rainbow flag," Ford told reporters at city hall. He later added, “Let Russia do what they want.”

He also made this claim:

The move comes just days after Ford stirred controversy by again turning his back on Toronto's LGBTQ community and stating he would not attend the city's Pride parade, even though Toronto is hosting North America’s first World Pride Festival this June.

“I’m not going to go to the Pride parade. I’ve never gone to a Pride parade. I’m not going to change the way I am,” Ford said during a mayoral candidate's meeting on Wednesday.

Now the looney toon says he's received were death threats

Police investigating threat against Rob Ford, mayor's office says

Police responded to Rob Ford’s office to investigate a potential threat against Ford and his family Friday afternoon, not long after the mayor demanded a pride flag flying at City Hall be taken down.

and what kind of childish thing is to tape a flag in your window just because you can't get the Rainbow Flag taken down. Here he is doing just that. What a twat.

and in other news Robbie has made it to the big time. He is featured in Korn's new video "Spike in my Veins"

Oh, and he and Doug are starting their own YouTube show:

This is exactly what the Ford brothers need: More ways to say things unfiltered, un-fact checked and unfortunate.

It was announced last night that Toronto Mayor Rob Ford and his brother, Coun. Doug Ford, launch their own YouTube show on Feb. 10, which will inevitably be filled with the same partisan and campaign rhetoric that was featured on their cancelled radio show and cancelled television show.

Because apparently they haven't been able to get their shiny, gem-like nuggets of thought out there fast enough through public speaking engagements and radio appearances.

I didn't want to bump this thread with this story from a few days ago, but now that it's here, I'll post the story.

Grade 6 students in Winnipeg were asked why they loved their city:

It's this time of year that Winnipeg tends to need a little extra love.

The Manitoba capital has already survived a winter's worth of bitter weather, not to mention the out-of-province teasing that goes with its notorious chill. And unlike other parts of the country, where the end of February means we can start dreaming of warmer days ahead, their finish line is barely in view.

Which is why it was nice to see an article in the Winnipeg Free Press on Wednesday celebrating what children love about the city. Even if the overwhelming response seemed to be, "I love Winnipeg because Rob Ford isn't our mayor."

I understand why Rob Ford is going to be on Jimmy Kimmel, everybody loves a clown, but fucking Ford is going to the Oscars?!?!?!? You're fucking joking!!! Holy Fucking fuck fuck!!! Why? Why are you people making him more famous? Didn't you Americans learn your lesson with the Biebs? Sheesh!! He doesn't even talk to Canadian press anymore.

^ Remember, Americans love Jerry Springer. and Honey Boo Boo.

Ford is right up their alley.

We're making him famous?

I figured it was the lack of fucks given in Canada that made him famous, not his plans to take his show on the road.

His antics are treated very differently up here. Virtually everything he says or does is treated as 'grandstanding'. He recently went to Ottawa to get his mitts on some federal money to help cover the cost of the ice storm clean-up, and he announced that he was going to make his presence known there. When he didn't get the attention (or money) that he wanted, he took off and headed for a bar.

He and his brother have had a radio show cancelled, a TV show which lasted only 1 episode, and are now trying their hand at YouTube. I wouldn't be surprised if the 'comments' have been deactivated.

Like Justin Bieber, Ford gets a totally different reception up here as he does down there.

Well, like Bieber, unless you're a 13 year old girl(or, in Fords' case, a crack dealers' wet dream), we laugh at the clown, not with it. Then we get tired of our toy and send it back in the chest(or try to anyway).

we laugh at the clown, not with it.

Ford is definitely a clown, but certainly not the type of clown that makes people laugh. We just shake our heads at his antics and wonder to ourselves why the man is still in City Hall. Trust me. He's much more popular in the States than he is up here.

Jimmy Kimmel never had me as a viewer (I'm a Letterman kind of guy). And now, I will never tune in to his show if he is capitalizing on this shameless Rob Ford publicity stunt.....

I think it was Kimmel who made Ford famous down there, and once the train started rolling, he's been milking it ever since. Ford is famous in Canada, but for entirely different reasons.

When is the next election?

October 27.

I am just shocked beyond belief how he is being elevated to celebrity status for being a snivelling homophobic crack addict. I would love to see Kimmel have male strippers and gays shower Ford with attention at the Oscars and on his TV show.

Remember, of course, that he denies being an "international celebrity". (I wonder if he knows that there is video proving otherwise on that claim as well?)
