For the past week my broadband connection has been very slow with lots of disconnection from the internet. I noticed that the lnternet indicator is off. I have to unplug and restart the modem but it only let me surf for a few min b4 disconnecting.

Can anyone recommend a good wireless modem router.

Thanks.

Are you sure it's not your ISP that has problems? Did you test the router on another computer/household?

/\ that still doesn't mean it's your modem. i could be your internet provider. have you called them to see if there have been outages or if they can check the status of your modem remotely?

I changed the modem and its good now....the old modem had no break and was on 24hrs since I got it 3 years ago....

Strangely mine does the same thing from time to time. Maybe once every few weeks or so.

I just assumed it was some kind of throttling from my isp since it normally happens when I'm downloading/uploading a large torrent.

Also make sure your wireless is encrypted. I learned very recently that your isp can and will disconnect you if you have a wireless device using your modem that has some form of malware (spyware, virus, bot) on it, even if it's someone else that's piggybacking your wireless, and they have an infected computer, without you knowing it.

Was the warranty a 3 year warranty? All mine have died within a month of the end of the warranty period it seems.....the Linksys ones anyway....... #-o

Yeah my modem still that a lot, it disconnects for no reason and the ISP always tells me its faulty wiring in my house or the modem.
