Oh, Robert--my heart goes out to you!! I lost my mom a couple of years ago and it was very hard to take. I can tell you, though, that your Mom raised an exceptional son and I am sure that she's beaming at you from afar. Now that she's left this world the best that you can do is try to follow the lessons that she taught you It is so hard to lose your mother. I still miss mine almost everyday. But with time the pain grows less intense. I hope it is the same for you. Be gentle with yourself. Best wishes!!(*8*)bb
 
Like so many of the others here, I have gone through the experience of losing both parents a few years ago; my mother to cancer over a 13 week period from diagnosis to her death. Until it happens, I don't think any of us really understand what a life changing experience it can be. No matter what your age, you suddenly feel like orphans.

Talk it through with everyone you can; don't ever bottle up your grief or think that because you're all grown up it is silly to feel the loss so intensely.

As everyone else has also noted, the pain lessens with time. I hope our parents know they are even more loved than we ever took time to tell them.
