My Neighbor Died And Noone Knew

it reminds me a similar case when I was a child, a neighbor died and was there for three days with his three-year old daughter.

To address the odor problem, wet-mop all of your hard surfaces with a good pine or citrus scented cleaner and hot water.
Use Lemon Oil on all of your wood surfaces.
For rugs and other cloth surfaces, try Febreeze.

That combination has worked for me in the past...

Good luck!

I think that's my worst fear. To die alone and rot away in my apartment alone because I don't have anyone in my life to miss me when i'm gone. I think that would be the worst way to go.

I really feel sorry for the guy. :(

I used to work for a removal service and alot of the time when we were called to a house the person had been dead for some time (two weeks was the longest). Yes the smell is horrible and there are industrial cleaners that will get rid of the smell.
In regards to the neibour who passed. We are all so quick to say how horrible it is, but as some have mentioned already, perhaps it was his wish to die alone. Perhpas his illness and recent loss of his limb was just too much and his end was by his own hand?
I myself do not want to die alone, but I respect thoes who do...Perhaps we spend too much time thinking of thoes people left behind then the ones that have moved on.

It happened to my aunt who lived in another city from me. She had passed away and it wasn't noticed for a few days when a neighbor realized mail and paper weren't being taken in.

Said neighbor phoned police who, upon arrival, broke into the house and found my aunt abed. If memory serves, she'd developed pnuemonia and succumbed. I thought it very sad...choking up again now.

I'm sorry. Hope u feel better by now.

That breaks my heart to think that people can be so isolated and alone that even their death goes unnoticed. Everyone needs to be loved and cared for. Personally after reading this, I'm challenging myself to be a better friend to the people in my life. I hurt when I see people hurting. A little love and a tender word or two can go a long way.
