Some other points worth considering.....
1. You don't have to unplug them durting severe lightning storms.
2. They still work perfectly well when you spill coffee on them.
3. You don't have to worry about erasing the history.
4. They do not have a blue screen of death.

I used to be able to use an abacus - I could add faster on it than my friends on their calculators, but I was slower at multiplication. I could to square roots fine, but I never learned how to do cube roots. I used a Chinese abacus (two beads above; five below the bar), instead of the Japanese (one above, four below).

They really are great tools.

My grandfather worked as a banker in China and used an abacus as a calculator. He is now the elected treasurer in his elderly home's e-board and he still uses it. It's ridiculous how fast he is.. It blows my mind.
