I booked an NY hostel months ago and now (less than a week before I arrive) they tell me that they have closed down. I'm scrambling to find other locations to stay. Does anyone know of cheap accommodations that might still be available? Locations people might not know of so they might not have gotten snagged? I realise it will probably be more expensive because I'm booking less than a week away and I'll be there through new years. Any help is appreciated. :(

Hi, Braves,

I suggest that you do a search for youth hostels New York City.

I like the one at the corner of Amsterdam Avenue and 103rd Street.

You might also try YMCAs. The one on 135th Street is cheaper by $20/night if you book online.

Hi, Braves,

If you google the site mentioned in post #4, then I can say I have had good luck at Hostelling International New York on Amsterdam Avenue.

I stayed here a while back. It was OK but in a great location right on the border of Chelsea and the West Village.

Looks like you can get a room for $79 a night.

Don't forget Priceline! Sometimes you can get a hotel deal there. NY is more difficult than, say, Chicago or Dallas, but I have done it there.

I looked into the Gershwin hotel it looked cozy & cheap

i always booked a room @ the hostel on amsterdam

Hi, fan,

Please let us know what you came up with on such short notice during the holidays.
