I know this probably seems crazy, but I feel like my penis is shrinking lately! :confused: It's weird. It's just when I'm flaccid; when I'm erect it seems pretty much the same as usual. But when I'm soft, it seems smaller than usual - almost like how it gets when it's really really cold or in a cold shower. Has ANYONE else ever experienced this? I'm 27 years old, and don't remember ever experiencing this before. It's weird and I don't like it, obviously.
Any info/thoughts/insight would be appreciated!

I haven't really gained much weight, no. Maybe a few pounds but I've been exercising also, and I'm definitely not overweight - kind of slim/average build.

And have I been "abusing"? I'm not sure I know in which way you mean? sorry.
 
He said gain, not lose. Fat is distributed unevenly through the body. Where you lose weight may not be in the groin area. In fact, stomach fat is some of the hardest to lose.

So then when I gained back the 25 pounds I would of lost all 3 inches then?
 
Not necessarily. I'm sure what he says is mostly in jest, since weight gain is also unequally distributed.
 
I actually have also heard (I believe from a television show about health and diet, exercise, weight, etc) from a dr. that losing weight can "increase" your size. However, I'm sure it's relative and there's a cut off point. For example, if it were hypothetically for every 5 pounds you lose you gain a half an inch, that doesn't mean if you lose 60 pounds you'll gain 6 inches! Or vice versa. I'm sure there's a leveling out point where you won't "grow" or "shrink" any more because of your weight.
Does that make sense?

Well yes. Mostly the 'losing/gaining' inches stuff is just talking about what is visible of the penis. Fat surrounding the penis can develop and grow past the base, making the external penis 'shorter' and losing weight would therefore gradually reveal more and more of what's there. If you're 6 inches tops and you lose enough weight to reveal all 6, losing more weight won't show any more of your penis.

actually I really don't think it has anything to do with weight but more about your mood. Have you had any emotional stress like a death in the family or broken up with your b/g friend?

That could be causing it or maybe your body is just reacting to an infection or virus have you been sick lately or caught an STI? I don't think it could be THAT serious but your body expresses its self more through your penis than any other part of your body.
 
Also if you drink alcohol - studies have shown it can cause temporary shrinking and permanent shrinkage if you abuse alcohol long term.

WHAT?!?! What studies are you referring to? There is no physiologic mechanism that I can think of that would support this claim.

Ultimately, your penis size changes on a regular basis. It doesn't shrink permanently. The only thing was as pointed out, if you have more belly fat, it might appear smaller. Otherwise, it's really the same size.
 
I did a little research on some of the... erm... ideas, in this thread and found out a few of the following little facts.

Alcohol CAN cause erectile dysfunction and I did find an article on BBC claiming it had the ability to "shrink" the penis, but I don't really buy it. Erectile dysfunction is (so far) the only thing that can happen to the penis as a result of alcohol that I've found explained WELL, and with biological support.

Secondly, I haven't found any info at all on an STD/STI that can actually cause the penis to shrink. Well I take that back, there's a couple that can make your penis fall off, so I guess thats considered pretty significant shrinkage ;).

It sounds to me like the penis in question is doing just fine. I haven't seen anything that causes permanent shrinking of the penis at all (just the testicles ;)). Flaccid penis size varies depending on level of activity, temperature, and space, so I think you're just fine.

omg, just like the dick can't shrink, you can't make it longer either. The only way to do that is surgery and it is not recommended. The cut a ligament so that the penis looks longer, but it no longer stays in one place when rigid.
 
Thanks for all the input, guys. The only thing I might be able to think of is that I recently started taking medication for anxiety/depression, and it has slowed down my libido a little bit and so I've been jerking off less than usual. (I've gone from 1-2 times a day to a 1-2 times a week). But that wouldn't affect the size of my flaccid penis, could it?

Exactly. Instead of standing at attention when erect, it just hangs and waves around. Not fun.
 
Are you sure it's just not the weather?

Personally, I think you worry too much about the side of your penis when it's soft.
 
so this may sound wierd, but i swear mine has shrunk while erect. four years ago i swear i was around 7", but now i am barely pushing five...
