I am in a similar situation. I fell into those trap 2 times before. I did learn my lesson.

Rookie, he can't never be with you since he is not ready. Once your relationship really comes to an absolute end. Then he will finally review and figure what went wrong in your relationship. In that case when he is ready, the one is not going to be you because both of you will move on to different path already.

What you have done is like you use your heart, effort, and money to convince him to get off his comfy couch to go to a ball with you. But when he actually arrives there, his partner is not you. You are a stage of his life. Just to be used to get him think about what he is. If you understand that this is the only mission you have in his life, why keep on dreaming more...
