In some rough sort of order:

10) The Lake House - The most recent movie on my list, but so well done and I love these kinds of intriguing plots. Well my girlfriends found it a bit formulaic, but this is a charming charming movie for me.

9) Dangerous Liaisons - This is an intensely well acted film and features Uma Thurman before she was a household name. It's perfect. It was hard not to include the remake of it - Cruel Intentions - on the list too, but that too was extremely well done. Essentially both Sarah Michelle Gellar (cruel intentions - Kathryn Merteuil) and Glenn Close (dangerous liaisons - Marquise Isabelle de Merteuil) play the exact same character and both movies are marvelous, but I still like Dangerous Liaisons a hair better. Glenn Close is evil! Well since the 2 films are almost identical plots in two different eras, perhaps I should count them as one: Dangerous Liaisons/ Cruel Intentions.

8.)Rent

7) Being John Malkovitch - It's side splitting funny with a ton of original humor.

6) Finding Nemo - what can I say. Cartoons are wonderful.

5) Lady and The Tramp - Classic full length cartoon from Disney. It's an amazing classic.

4) The Triplets of Belleville - this is an amazing full length cartoon with almost no words at all. There is a little bit of french in it, but you don't have to understand french to understand the plot. Very original and it just keeps you hooked because Madame Souza's adventure is fabulous and you keep wondering what's going to happen next!!

3) The Sound of Music - they just don't make movies like this anymore. Julie Andrew's voice is perfection and I just can't help but sing along during the whole movie.

2) Swing Time - Oldest movie on my list considering it dates from 1936. But I honestly think Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers are timeless. This is still a beautiful film to watch and one of my favorite of the duo's films. I especially love the little song "pick yourself up."

1) Ever After - Drew Barrymore's finest performance. It's an updated (slightly changed in plot not in era - this is a 14th century Cinderella story) Cinderella story with an incredibly handsome prince who I lust after. Early on in the story Cinderella's father dies (we know that from the fairy tale) and the way it's done I cry every time and I've seen this movie literally HUNDREDS of times.

I was trying hard to find a place for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind on my list but ultimately the other movies won out.
