Does this strike any of you as odd ??

I mean, if yer feeling fat or bloated on a Friday, it's OK to wait til
next week to eat, right ?

Eat some soup! That's what I've made tonight. A nice black bean spicy soup! Skipping meals is never good!

It's never a good idea to starve yourself. Even for a couple of days. Your body needs fuel and will resort to "consuming" itself (and not just fat deposits). Try eating smaller, healthier meals.:grrr:

What in the world are you talking about?

Are you sick or are you just feeling overweight?

If you're sick, then go onto clear liquids and advance back to regular food step by step, as tolerated.

If you're overweight, you won't accomplish much by starving yourself for a few days. You'll feel better psychologically but worse physically. I'd recommend joining a weight loss program where you can get advice and a diet and weigh in each week and take off real weight and keep it off.

it actually makes it worse if you skip meals, you may feel skinnier or less bloated without the food but as soon as you eat something your body holds onto more of it because it thinks it isnt gonna get any more for a while!

eat little and often

It is not unusual for me not to eat for a day or two although I might have a sandwich. When I am in eating mode people gasp at the fact that I might have a roast meal for breakfast and a cheese sandwich in the evening. I find I am sadly predictably unpredictable.

Well it all depends if you can make it until Monday before passing out from lack of nourishment. Don't stop drinking water though.

i tend to get a serious case of the dizzies if i go for more than about 20 hours with something substantial to eat, the body wasnt designed to run on empty.

are you serious? starving from friday to monday? Thats 3 days without food, are you starving to not gain weight or kill yourself?

If you feel too full, go exercise and do something to burn the calories. Then you can have an excuse to eat back the calories. That way, you won't feel like you've added more to your weight.

people fast all the time. a few days is no big deal, not critically anyway (unless you have a preexisting medical condition where you need to eat). drink water at least.

I never expected to hear something like that from you! I hope that was a joke!
But of course! Observe the winkie-smilie!

Sometimes I wish I could make myself throw up after I've overindulged at the buffet, just to relieve the pressure, but I hate throwing up... I've only done it once in the last twelve years since I quit drinking, and the memory of it haunts me still.

But I have also done as Qixote suggests and fasted for a day after stuffing myself like a Roman emperor. Not starving, but fasting: drinking lots of water, a bottle of V8 juice (the low-sodium kind, naturally), maybe a couple of boiled eggs for protein, a few carrots for fiber, and romaine lettuce for the munchies. It has a penitential feel without being actively unhealthy.

Get a big bowl of soup, and get some really nice bread to dip in it. It's what I have when I want something light yet nice. And it can cheer me up, which I think you could do with.

Then again, right now I'm hardly the voice of wisdom on being cheerful.
