Naked Gun without a doubt. The first one was funnier than all 27,183 Police Academy movies combined. And the sequels were really funny too.

I vote for Naked Gun everytime. There was nothing else on TV last night, so I ended up watching Police Academy - I was reminded how shit it was compared to the other major police comedy of the 1980s

Liked Police Academy,LOVED the Naked Gun films.The sight of Leslie Nielsen's Det.Frank Drebs pretending to be an umpire in that baseball scene trying to protect the visiting Queen Elizabeth from an evil assasin(who turned out to be the unwittingly programmed Reggie Jackson) was fucking hysterical.

And yes, maybe I'm a little biased was Leslie Nielson is Canadian AND from my province...But besides that, they're just generally funnier movies.

I'm particularly fond of 33 and a third, just because of the 'previews' of movies nominated for the Oscars...Come on, Geriatric Park and the Post Office? HIGH-larious.

But I have a question.... Was Naked Gun the first of its kind? Was it the first compilation/piss take/slap in the face type movie of its kind where no other movie was safe? Did it spawn the Scary Movie et al genre?

Just curious... I cant really remember previous movies like it... but that could be because I've got old timers....;)
