Hey all!

Im trying to convince my husband that we should hang some naked male photos in house, but he seems to think it's weird. nothing pornographic, very classy art, that showcases the awesome male form. And also in like a more private area, like our own man cave or bed room. not just out and about where my family sees it when they comes over. why? cause why not! who doesn't like looking at naked men lol. am I crazy? Help me convince him!

I have a large etching of a young man in white underwear in my bedroom. I bought it whilst in Venice so it has emotional value.

I collect male nude statues which I have all over the place.

So I see nothing wrong with photographs but feel that they need to have some significance rather than just be images of handsome guys.

I'd be totally down for some male nudity on my walls. The only issue would be it would conflict with the cartoon stuff.

You mean like being precious Tom of Finland stuff?

I wonder whether it would be legal and all that to hire svelte, athletic muscleheads to pose eight hours a day as living versions of that sort of... whatever

You know, as in:

@OP,

Just be aware of people wandering by and making surprised commentary - you may think no one but you & the husband are going to be in your bedroom but people might pop by to put a coat down for your party or a friend's toddler passed out on the couch and needs to borrow a bed so the tipsy people don't squash the little bugger- things of that nature.

I've no idea how to convince him though.

Also be aware, once you have one art-bit on your wall, other pieces (whatever they are) have a chance of being ...misconstrued.

I've got an almost-but-not-quite 'theme' going in mine, 'classical exploration', in many manners of the word.

Put simply, there's an image on my wardrobe doors, I put tentacles in silhouette coming out from where the two doors meet in the middle, reaching/wrapping around to the far edge of the hinges). Also amused me some since the picture on the wall across is from the Mutter museum and involves aids through the ages - coincidentally enough, also often needed after exploration gone wrong - anyway, I'd thought the other bobs & bits would've been a Clue as to the overall reading of the room.

But no - for some damn reason someone, who I'd thought had better sense, made the assumption that it had to do with tentacle porn - and then decided to comment on that in a negative fashion. Can't quite remember what he said, something along the lines of considering it ostentatious when combined with the rest of the room. Except there's fuckall unusual on display in the rest of the room and the wardrobe isn't remotely erotic. If anything, you'd think he would've went with a light Lovecraftian or steampunk infatuation...

Can't say I was pleased to find out he seems to have been reading all my decoration as fap material. I suspect I'm going to have to have a talk with him about that.

To be clear, there's only two pieces of art that are erotic 'on display', and one of them is a classical Greek statue while the other is a cast, and rather difficult for others to find, at that. There's a couple of visible toys but they're not displayed so much as kept on the bit of furniture that's playing Nightstand since I've moved everything else to the closet where there's a curtain. Beats tossing a pile of laundry on things.
What I keep out for decoration in the bedroom are things involving machinery, masks, maps, nautilism, framed poetry, ect.

What I'm trying to say is you'll likely be meeting other's ignorance because when you give someone else the knowledge that your eroticism isn't limited to, oh, pictures of straight people staring adoringly into each others' eyes, they're may assume all your shit is of a sexual nature. Be Prepared.

I'd be totally down for some male nudity on my walls. The only issue would be it would conflict with the cartoon stuff.

You should check out etsy - https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheArtOfFelixDeon

Not sure if it's your style, but there are things out there! I think that's the new shop, there's an older shop listed on the site as well but he seems to have upgraded this year or somethin'. I believe I spotted some comic subjects too, somewhere in there, though I'm more interested in the mythical or cultural images.

If you'd like more (or less) cartoony, I've got those too. Quality can be more difficult to find in either of those directions when you're actively avoiding realism, though, I think. A lot of people seem to land on the 'it's trying for a photo-effect and just looks flat and uninspired' when they're drawing erotica - it's sad.

There's a couple more I'm fond of but I can't seem to upload the pics and I need to hunt down the addresses.

Just don't go The Birdcage route

I'd prefer my nude artwork to be in the form of a coffee table book.

If your partner has some kind of shame issue with it, give him some kind of compromise.

Everyone doesn't have the same comfort level with nudity, and it sounds from the cheap seats like your partner, unlike some of the more comfortable members posting, doesn't have the disposition to feel good telling guests they can like it or suck it.

What could be a compromise? Alternate art to hang when guests are due that he doesn't feel comfortable with explaining to or whatever his discomfort is.

OR leaving the images up and comically draping them to at least make it humorous when folks go peeking.

OR select a range of images that span from not nude but close to modern nudes to classical.

That's all I got.
