I thinkt ehr eason why NAMBLA exists is because it's actually based in Europe or something. That's always been the running joke...they're called the North American Man/Boy Love Association but they're based out of East Europe or something.

Can't be East Europe; they've been around since before the wall came down.
Maybe we could ship them all to East Europe, though... someplace where the standard of living is really bad and everyone carries a weapon and they're very protective of kids.

The thing that blows my mind is the fact that this organization has a HISTORY ... I mean NAMBLA has survived the test of time and the government has done little to disband and abolish this organization. NAMBLA may argue freedoms of speech and assembly, but isn't there a superceding interest in protecting children that would essentially trump the freedoms this group claims?

I will never begin to understand the need for these men to fulfill their sexual needs with boys who don't have the capacity to know what is happening to them. Nor do I ever have the desire to know.

The problem is that, while what they do may be repugnant, it's not really illegal. They can say and do anything they want and unless the authorities actually catch them in the act of seducing, soliciting, or having sex with a child, they're in the clear.

It's the dark side of the first amendment. It's the same reason the KKK gets off scott-free.

The KKK doesn't get off entirely scott-free; they seriously have to keep their rhetoric in check, especially now with "hate speech" statutes on the books.

I am probably just as disgusted by it as you are, but I can already foresee the arguments defending it.

That is, when you have freedom of speech, sometimes people choose to use it to say bad things.

I hate what they do as much as I hate what the KKK does. They're both evil organizations. Unfortunately, not much can be done to stop them. The First Amendment is a double-edged sword.

I've got it:

First we get a national "Castle Doctrine" law passed, so we can shoot home invaders.

Then we somehow get them to invade our homes.
