In June I came home with these two girls, a magpie duck and an indian runner duck. They turn all the bugs and slugs in the back yard into fertilizer. I still haven't come up with a good name for them yet...any ideas?

They're still growing their adult feathers so they look a little funny right now. The little one was supposed to be white but she's turning brown...

The blond one Phoebe, the other is surely a Monica. They are gorgeous. We once grew a flock from eggs, it was very rewarding.

There nice , but who told you one was an Indian Runner?

They look like crested ducks to me.

An Indian Runner is supposed to walk at an angle of at least 60 degrees to the ground with their feet way back under their bottoms. They have long thin bodies and necks , with chiselled heads.( Soda water syphons they used to be called.)

The same lady that said it was going to be all white.:##: I know runner ducks stand up taller but it also depends on the breeder. She likes to stand up tall and run, much harder to catch than the other one.

All kinds of ducks can be crested...it actually comes from a skull defect.

It's hard to believe they were only this big less than 2 months ago:

I didnt know that ducks can be a pet
I have heard of people keeping ducks as pets, and I think itd be kinda cool to have a pet duck. (have seen baby ducks for sale at whats sortof a farm-supply store...they're the cutest little things)

Even if i actually wanted a pet duck (would be cool but in reality don't want the expense/responsibility), can't have as its not allowed where I live
