Nancy shoots blanks out of gate

Well, I see that partisanship is still alive and well on JUB. You all have to admit that Pelosi's move did notch her down a bit out of the starting gate.
Not necessarily. What has happened since Hoyer won that is evidence Pelosi is "notched down"? Nothing. It's all just talking heads spinning for a paycheck.

Have to wait until something happens to see how Pelosi's capital stands.

That is the conventional wisdom - read any newspaper, blog, political talking head, etc.

All true except on JUB, the new version of The Twilight Zone
The conventional wisdom was that Bush's Iraq war was a slam dunk, a cake walk, a winning move if ever there was one. Those of us who opposed it were called, in addition to anti-American and unpatriotic and pro-terrorist, six percenters because we were so few in number.

And yet it turns out we were right. We were right.

Funny you liken it to The Twilight Zone, where truth or wisdom or moral authenticity was usually delivered with a twist, an ending that came contrary to conventional wisdom.

I prefer to think for myself, and if political talking heads all disagree with me -- well, so much the better!

Not sure this transcript helps your case Smelter.

For sure he was not convicted of anything but it's pretty clear to me what was going on.

PS - I think Chris was playing Softball not Hardball with Rep Murtha
Once more Chance ..... not only was he not convicted, he was not charged with anything. If this is your response to the questions asked in post #79, it falls woefully short of the mark. By not admitting your factual errors, you continue to do a mini-swiftboat on Decorated Marine/Congressman Jack Murtha. Unless you have some documented facts rather than your undocumented opinion, you are doing him a disservice.

Okay... I'll attribute it to the electrical problems we had from the storm, and attempt a rewrite!

Thanks for checking!

I can confirm that there are no deleted posts in this thread.

I would hope that you would take a moment to consider other possibilities before yelling "censorship." We take that quite seriously here.

"A sense," you say? Really? Are you stationed in Iraq or Ft. Bragg? Do you have special insight as to how the armed forces view the political landscape? Or is that how things work these days -- one need not cite a known poll, one need just wake up one morning and say, "I sense Speaker-elect Pelosi isn't popular with (fill in the blank) and yet I have no proof?" No wonder your side got ass pounded!

Let's saunter over to the real world, shall we, a world where there are metrics and data? Polling is very, very favorable for the Democrats and its leadership, and no one who isn't brainwashed or intoxicated by kooky kool aid should be be surprised -- Bush has the worst sustained ratings of ANY post-WWII president since Truman dontchaknow, his agenda has been rejected and his party has all of the popularity of a ripe fart in a crowded elevator. Can I prove my claim? Yewbetcha!

"Doesn't represent the majority," huh? The majority of what? She was resoundingly re-elected in her district, she won the Speakership by acclaim, her polls are higher than Coward Bush (who, BTW, enjoys the support of LESS THAN ONE THIRD of American voters), and she's a rising national star.

America is delighted, thrilled that the Democrats won back the House and Senate and soon the White House will also be liberated from the forces of incompetence, stupidity, mendacity and evil: America says "Bring it on!"

Rejoice, America, our long national nighmare is nearly at an end! Be of good cheer, the forces of light and liberation are near! Democracy is on the march and its enemies are in retreat!

I think both Andreus and you took my "troops" to mean our servicemen - I meant fellow Dems. Come to think of it, I'll bet she is not terribly popular with our armed forces as well - but it was not my point. Sorry for being unclear.

Not sure what "my side" is - and clearly you don't - and for the record my ass does not hurt.

As for NP representing the majority of Dems - I just think the extreme nature of her views (liberal) is not where the majority of the party is - much less the country - and I'm glad of that because I believe lurching in that direction would destablilize us from a security/economic standpoint. But that's my opinion. I honestly believe that a minority party leader should be a rabble rouser - as the minority u have to fight that much harder to get heard and a little extremism isn't a bad thing. Different when u are the majority party. Practicality, bipartisanship I think are more important then - not sure she has the right stuff for that. But we'll see. I'm willing to watch and listen and keep an open mind. Can u say the same about John McCain or Rudy Giuliani? Be honest

Alfie - I think u may have missed Andreus' excellent post about trying to be civil. I for one, applaud his reaching out and therefore will not get into with u. Hope I didn't ruin your day. LOL
