Atleast someone notices his talent...

When Isaiah Washington was fired from Grey's Anatomy, it took nothing short of bionic powers to revive his career.

"We believe in second chances," said David Eick, executive producer NBC's upcoming Bionic Woman, which has hired Washington for five episodes.

Speaking to reporters at the annual Television Critics Association meeting in Beverly Hills, Eick rejected the suggestion that hiring Washington was an affront to gays and lesbians. The actor had been let go from ABC's Grey's after a firestorm over his use of a gay slur.

"We embrace the gay community," said Eick, "and hope they will watch."

Continues....

I'm also glad the new NBC President, pointed this out also...

"I think he could be an action star," says Silverman. "And there aren't any African-American action stars on television. So I thought [we'd] give him a forum to do his thing."

Thoughts?? Concerns??

Considering his past and his only real talent of sticking his foot in his mouth and making an ass of himself, I am sure he will take full advantage of this opportunity! My prediction is he will once again be gone before you can say faggot!

I've never heard of Bionic Woman. After Angel and Buffy ended...as well as Firefly...there haven't been many Black action actors that I can recall.

Since it's only 5 episodes, depending on whether he becomes a regular or not, he may be off the show before he has the chance to fuck up another job.

I'm genuinely surprised ANYONE hired him. Not even because he used the f-word but because he's been making such a hissy fit ever since. Clearly NBC is using said hissy fit and the current hype surrounding to draw attention to their show and they'll just drop him after 5 epis.

NBC is in 4th place in this year's ratings. They'd do anything to draw attention to their shows, even hiring this bigot.

I wonder if the show will last long enough for anyone to see those episodes....

WOW everyone is jumping on Isaiah.. all because he "allegedly" called a white guy the F-word. No one knows what happen behind the scenes that lead up to this supposed "outburst", but yet everyone is jumping against Isaiah, we don't know the full story.. but Isaiah did clear up this mess on Larry King a few weeks ago. And we finally heard his side of the story.

Hopefully everything turns out well for Isaiah, as the NBC Entertainment President pointed there are very few black actors out there in action roles. Or any role to be quite honest. Give the black man a chance!!

I wanna say, I agree with giving people second chances as well....but there is something about this actor, that makes me itch. If it looks like a snake, and smells like a rat...its a ....

There is no allegedly...*sigh whatever

And it's not just because he said a gay slur. It's because of how he's behaved since. He's shown himself to be less than gracious and to many, now appears completely unpleasant.

Besides, this forums rips apart anyone making stupid homophobic remarks. Why should he be different?

Agreed, no allegedly, there certainly is no doubt he said the word, TWICE
I certainly won't be watching his new show.

Second chances are one thing, but Isaiah has reportedly had issues with cast members before he was on Grey's. Sounds like he's had several chances and keeps blowing it.

NBC's hiring him is simply a ratings stunt and the 5 episode gives them a perfect out to dump him if they want too - assuming that show is sucessful.

Given a long enough time frame, I'm sure Isaiah will show his true colors once again and we will have yet another thread on how he was unfairly let go because he happens to have dark skin

One of two things will happen.

He'll buckle down, get to work, and not make a fuss...which'll prove that the racist network has a gag order on him, something they'd never do to a white actor. "You want to work in this town again, Mr Washington, you'd best learn to bob your head and shuffle your feet."

Or he'll speak out again...and provide an intelligent, telling insight about how racist the network is. More facts the whites don't want to hear.

Either way, any white actor (with lesser skills) would've gotten ten episodes, not five.

...how'd I do?

Lex

Dude what are you talking about? If he's gagged it would be because he's shown he can't act as a calm mature individual and nothing to do with race. I'm sick and tired of this shit being infused with race. He physically assualted a castmate, verbally assualted another, and since he was let go he has laid the blame on everyone in the book except himself. His words drip a condescending tone. He's clearly an ass. And the only place on he belongs on TV is My Sweet Sixteen with the rest fo the out of touch divas.

^ ummm, that was tongue in cheek from Lex (I think)

ironically, I can see it happening fairly easily
