did anyone else watch kings on nbc?

i liked it very much! i thought it was pretty ambitious for network tv. i just hope it picks up an audience.
 
Yeah, it was good....

Obviously they had to make one of the high profile characters gay... (the son)...

yeah. at the very least he isn't a stereotype and the meeting he had with his uncle at the end? looks like he'll be the dastardly type.
 
I watched and enjoyed it but I am somewhat disappointed in the trite plot line of the son being used to lead a revolt against the father. That is so overdone. It would be much more interesting to follow the biblical line with the son, Jack, loving David and helping him when the king tries to kill David. Its good enough for the Bible but probably too liberal for prime time TV. :-)
 
I agree it was pretty good... just a tired plot line. I thought for second there I was watching Any Given Sunday--- did the guy playing the King (Ian McShane) not look like Al Pacino?? Just hope they can pick up the pace, otherwise, this will join the junkyard of all the other NBC attempts at a quality show!
 
I really liked the premiere tonight. I diidn't have much of a problem with the pace of the show. There is an entire season for events to unfold; tonight was simply a way of getting the ball rolling. As for the plot...again, I don't have a problem with it. Pitting the true son against the surrogate--I like it. We can have the prince and the hero get all buddy-buddy later on.
 
I like the story line. Very rare to see a show question what would happen if a nation like the US had a monarchy instead of the presidential system.
 
I loved the show, this is gonna be one to fill the void of a lot of television.

I think we need to be patient with this though, a lot of you are throwing this under the bus because it didn't tell an entire seasons worth of content in one episode. You people have to remember, that this is suppose to last for more than one episode. We still have yet to know what happens for the entire season.
 
I loved this show. I love the charactors and actors. Big fan of Ian McShane from Deadwood, he is just a phenomal actor. All the eye candy on the show doesn't hurt either.
 
aw damn...I forgot to watch it on Sunday....guess I'll just download it ...unless anyone knows if NBC is gonna rerun it anytime soon....
 
Liked the premiere. I can't be sure, but during the season preview that aired after the show, it looked like there was an upcoming kiss between David and Jack. It could have been my overactive imagination, but I wouldn't doubt it considering Jack will probably let a moment get out of hand, leading to his rejection by David or something.

Looks like the premiere didn't make the greatest impression in terms of ratings, but considering it had to compete against Desperate Housewives, The Amazing Race, and Extreme Makeover, it's not surprising. Hopefully more people will give it a chance. It'd be a shame to have such a show be canceled.

ummm if your trying to say this is a take on david and goliath, yeah, the show is kinda based around that.
 
I was out of town and forgot to watch it. It seems to be the type of show I would watch.
 
Could some one please tell me whats going with this show I cought a little bit last week and watched the whole thing this week. I like THE characters but where are they in the US or what. ???
 
^ its not the u.s. although they do use new york, with certain landmarks edited out, as shiloh.

i missed most of the show this evening so i'll have to check nbc to see if they are airing it online.
 
I am really liking this show so far, though tonight's episode was a little slow.

I'm curious to know how they plan on developing the relationship between David and Prince Jack.

Quick question - when the two heads of state were talking about peace, and the guy asked for the Port of Prosperity. Did that mean that the other country is going to take over Shiloh? Was a little confused the agreed terms.
 
^^No, Port of Prosperity is the area where David came from. The general from Gath called it the Port of Sorrow. That's the land that Gath is taking back. That may set up David's eventual exile from Silas's court, if the show continues to stay true to the biblical story.
