Hey Guys.

Downloaded a zip file video in 8 parts (700 MB). J-Zip will unpack and combine it yet when I try to play I get an error code saying the audio track is missing. I really don't care much about the audio anyway, but how can I get the file to play as is? I use Windows XP and latest version of Windows Media Player. I get the same error code with Divxx and Quicktime also, although I'm not sure they are compatible with the MPEG format. M/S help page describes something about changing ID tags of the file but that's way past my level.
Any ideas are appreciated.
Thanks

try installing the klite codec pack and see if it works or d/l gspot and use it to get info about the vid and it will tell you if you have the correct codec installed

Thanks.
I''ll try to do that.
I've been doing some more research and I think the last part of the eight is damaged or incomplete. I'll try to re-load it.

I would say that a part of the files downloaded is faulty. You could also try to download again. To edit you ID Tag go to hxxp://www.videohelp.com/tools/abcAVI_Tag_Editor and follow the advice and download the editor. You Video may have a damaged header.

change xx to tt

Try running GSpot on the file - it's a small program that will identity the audio and video codec formats used in the file and provide information on them.

Also, VLC Media Player is well-regarded for being able to play files that have mangled audio or video components, or are corrupt, or have bad header information - but also directly handle files that Windows Media Player might need external codecs for (for instance, your MPEG might be MPEG-2 format).

Thanks for your input guys. Actually been too busy to try a fix, but will get to it when I can.
Thanks again.

Hey trinket, your the best. Tried the VLC Media player and it opened and played the damage file proto. Shows how M/S media player sucks! Also played another video I was having trouble seeing.
Thanks to all of you for your brains!
