So I want to print this onto a shirt.

I went to a photo place that does t-shirts, and they said althought the image would be about 6' by 6' inches on the shirt.
It's going to look all pixelated.

He said if I could get the dpi up to 300 it would look fine at that size.

Lord knows I do not know how to increase the dpi.

I know I'd probably have to redo the image myself. Which I can.
Problem is I ue paint.net and I can't for the life of me find how to increase the dpi.

Hell I'll be honest I have no idea what dpi is.

Could someone help me with this?

I would greatly appreciate it.

here's the picture.

He's partially right, the image is small, but i can increase the DPI for you however much you want. But because the image is small, the larger you make it, the more pixelated it's going to become. How big (in inches) do you want the image to be on the shirt?

You said the guy said it would be 6' x 6'??? ' means feet you know?? Did you mean " as in inches? Do you want it to be 6" x 6"? Or larger?

MMMk, got your PM, you want it 6" x 6" print size, at 300DPI... That is going to look blurred and such, so let me see if i can scale it up without getting that for you, because the image is going to need to be 1800 x 1944 @ 300DPI in order to have a print size of 6' x 6.4'.

Wow I just pm'd you and you me, and you replied.

Freeaky.

Yeah I meant " inches. :)

I was hoping a nice size, like 5'' or 6'' inches.

but he said it would be greatly pixilated.

So If we can't make it NOT pixilated, do you know how I woudl go about making that a 300 dpi image in Paint.net?
I can do it. I just have no idea how to change the dpi in Paint.net.

Hehe, yea i noticed that PM right after i wrote you. I'm going to try and fix it up to get rid of the blur after the resize, since it's a simple image it shouldn't be that difficult, lemme see what i can do here, be back in a min or 2.

Yeah, I meant 6" inches and not feet. Sorry.

I always never know what to put when it comes to those....

So did you mean 1800x1944 for 6" x 6.4" inches?

because I will probably have to do the image myself at 300 dpi, how ever the image program I use is nothing liek Adobe which let's me switch the dpi...

Heh, see i made the same mistake too ;). Yes 1800 x 1944 @ 300DPI for 6" x 6.4".

Anyways, this is the image the way it's described above, however as you can see, there is some blur around the edges between colors. I really can't tell you that you will or will not notice it when it's printed on a shirt. I could completely remake the image for you, but that would take a little longer than 2 min (something like an hour or so).

I am by no means an expert but the easiest way to me would seam to turn it into vector art via a live trace with adobe illustrator. You would loose the text - which you could then add back in, I think. That would give you an EPS file that most printing/shirtmaking places would take. Since eps is vector art there is unlimited dpi.

Let me know if I am talking out my ass.

Not QUITE the easiest way, but that's on the right track. Needless to say, i'm re-making the image in a way that will allow me to render it at any resolution, which is the same effect as a SVG file, but using better software.

Well, i know you've already taken in the first version i posted, but here's the re-worked lossless versions. There are 3 sizes, they are:

T-Shirt and small print sized, at 1800 x 1944 @ 300 DPI (6" x 6.48")

Poster Sized (irregular aspect), at 3510 x 3791 @ 150 DPI (23.4" x 25.28")

Poster Sized (corrected aspect), at 3510 x 4965 @ 150 DPI (23.4" x 33.1") (A1 Size)

A1 is a standard size format, any print shop will know that size, and should be able to print that for you. Oh, and 150 DPI is pleanty for a poster-sized print, don't let anyone tell ya otherwise ;).

If you're looking for free image manipulation software, I'd suggest gimp and inkscape over paint.net. Paint.Net has always struck me as "paintbrush 2.0" where GIMP is a full featured photo manipulation package. Inkscape is a vector image program similar to freehand.
