:help: Okay I'm not to big into things like Rar and zip.....but I need to know if this file I want to download is okay. I've seen RAR before and passed them by bc I don't know what the hell they are. I've Googled and it wasn't a big help in telling me plainly what exactly what they are and how to um...decompress them? I know I'd have to download some type of software....I guess what I'm asking is for someone to plainly tell me whats what.

any pointers?

oh and if its a music .rar file would it be like a regular mp3 file? or a Windows Media Audio file?

I'd love whatever help you guys can five me!

Thank you!

Thank you so much....for dumbing it down for me! I couldn't understand what the hell it was! ](*,)

okay.....I feel better about it now I'm give it a try.

7zip? About to google that and look into that....again thank you!

Where would I find 7-zip free software? Are they all the same?

I couldn't get it to work by just double clicking the file, it had to be opened from 7zip itself, IIRC. - not used it in a while, so could be faulty recall on my part.

Yeah, it's free supergurl ;) To decide if your windows is 32 or 64 bit, on your desktop should be Computer, right click on it and select Properties, look down the list and it should say System and then System Type - and this will tell you which you have.

Omg! It worked! And its not a virus or anything...won't lie was kinda scared it might be a virus. Now what do i do with the file thats on my desktop? just let it stay there or del? I did the 7zip and it worked out fine. but what about the left over file?

I can open RARs using 7zip by just double-clicking them. Check if you told it in the options to open RAR archives too.

winrar is my personal choice for zipped files. Sure you have to deal with that annoying popup after your 'free' registration expires but i think it's the best out there.
