I have some foil wrapped Earl Grey thats very good. As well as Chamomile and green. And some market Salada and PG Tips. But I'm a coffee fiend at the moment.

Can you answer this? Without Googling it, what is the ingredient that makes tea 'Earl Grey'?

Without looking I thought it was oil or essence of bergamot. Spelling?

I had a cup yesterday that tasted very citrusy and kinda herbal. Hard to explain but good :)
 
^ It is Bergamot. ('Bergamot' is marked by FireFox as a misspelling. FireFox offers correct spellings, and there is only one: 'Chamberpot'. Care for a little piss pot in your tea?)

Anyway, Earl Grey is my favourite tea (it's also the favourite tea of Star Trek's Capt. Jean-Luc Picard), and you're right that it is citrusy. Bergamot is an orange-flavoured citrus fruit from Italy.

I adore ^citrus. Pink grapefruit,limes and blood orange's are my favorite.

I can still remember how excited I was as a teenager to taste blood orange's. :)
 
The only real tea is loose leaf tea, infused by water of the right temperature, so you need a water cooker with adjustable temperature. I use 90-100°C for infusions, 80-90°C for black tea, 70-80°C for Chinese green tea, 60-70°C for white tea and 50-60°C for Japanese green tea.

And yes, the good kinds can be a bit expensive, but nothing like smoking or drinking good whiskey, so that's that.

Most boxed and bagged tea arrives as little more than dust, and gets worse if stored improperly.
 
If you are going to use a coffee maker to make tea, you can never use the same machine to make coffee. Not even once. Your coffee will be fine, but tea from that machine will be forever ruined. Your tea will never taste right again. If you drink coffee as well, get two machines and keep them separate.

Can you make loose tea in an automatic coffee pot?(I have several new ones still in the box)Has anyone used this method before? Pros-Cons?Not hot enough maybe?

Like you can filter coffee with American Socks.

Second question...
What is good loose black tea that taste great,but doesn't cost an arm and a leg.I need those :lol: I know the Pianist has probably mentioned what he drinks,as well as others.If anyone can chime in,it would be appreciated.

Can you buy Celestial Seasonings in stores? Our local cheese shop had been selling an assortment of them for decades. They're quite popular here.

Yes, although lately the selection has been rather limited. I do miss the Sangria Zinger flavor :(
