Crawl inside your boyfriend awhile. Think about who he is, what he likes, what he does. What might he like, that he doesn't have? A homecooked meal? Breakfast in bed? A full body massage (with happy ending), followed by a nice bubble bath with company?

See what you come up with. :)

aye it's a good idea to make presents anyway. i spent a canny bit of money on a present for my girlfriend about a month ago off ebay, and now she dumps me. So i'm left with something I don't want. Suppose it will have to be back on ebay and hope i get me money back. :mad:
 
My bf is going to be out of the country for a month and is going to be gone over Christmas. I'm just going to get him a card and write him a little note inside of it and maybe put a pic of me in it. I'm also extremely broke but I figure this one is more heart felt than a sweater from the mall and he can take it with him and read it whenever he wants to.

I think a poem is a great idea, as long as you're good at it. I'm not good at poetry but I can write some really nice letters so I'll stick with that. The candles also sound like a cool idea. Good luck!
 
Best idea to spice up a homemade present is the time and thought of a scavenger hunt.

I once did a hunt for someone I liked for Valentines day. Just random envelopes hidden with relationship trivia, (Where did we first kiss?) and then they led up to the gift.

In my case, I bought one of those mall cookie cake things shaped in a heart and the last clue led to the oven, when he opened it, ta da! It was cuter than just giving it outright.

Hope that helps! And anything can work, leading up to a poem or candles or whatever you choose.

Anything that comes from the heart is a gift worth giving. Its the soul and the spirit that goes into a great gift... not the wrapping or the ribbon.

I'm sure whatever you do that has your finger prints and personal touch and your heart in it will be a hit in his eyes... a heartfelt poem that says something that you've never said before will blow his socks off!
 
Don't know how much free time you actually have but have you thought about creating a book with poems, photos, chat transcripts, etc between you and your boyfriend? I did something like this for an ex years ago and they absolutely loved it. The whole book binding thing takes some time to do and may cost a bit but it's a memory that's certainly worth it.

I went to a local art store and bought that hand pressed paper to use for the cover and used another type of paper for the inside. I did the page layout in Quark. If you're interested you can PM and I can help with some instructions but I'd really suggest looking online and checking out some books on book binding.
