Hi there everyone.
I decided to start this new thread to mainly invite anyone who needs to lose weight, but do not feel motivated or have enough dedication to do it alone.

I do not know if this type of thread had been posted before or if there is a current thread that is doing what I am about to propose.

Anyone who want to lose weight can come here everyday, or whenever to connect, motivate, share, encourage one another.

I find it is very hard to exercise alone. On another website, I found a forum similar to this. Everyday the people on that website will go on to tell each other what they have done. By reading that, I found it was very encouraging for me to exercise. Now, I wanted to try to do it with you guys.

The rules are very simple:
1. Be honest.
2. Be nice.
3. Tell us your goals, how much weight you are planning to lose.
4. Tell us how you are planning to do it? What type of exercise.
5. If someone need motivation or questions, be open and nice enough to share your own secrets and ideas.
6. Stick to your plans, tell us what you have accomplished so far. Even if you didn't exercise at all, tell us why and we will help encourage you.

You guys can come into here everyday to update on what have you done: Jog, Run, Walk, Sport, Weight lifting, etc. etc.. We can start a group together and share the sweat together, share the problems together, and share the accomplishments together.

Who would like to join me?

Who is planning to do some exercise tomorrow? Sunday May 12?

Let me start first. I want to lose about 20 lbs atleast.

I have recently lost 30 lbs by playing tennis and dieting, but my weight loss had came to a halt. No matter how much I am trying, I am not losing weight and is constantly staying the same on the scale.

I decided now to mix in all this with running and jogging several miles a night.

I have just started running recently, therefore I cannot run too fast or run too far.

Tonight I was finally motivated enough, after a hard day of working, to run 3 miles. I had done this in 20 minutes and it feels great. Very tiring, very hard, but right now I am smiling with satisfaction.

I know tomorrow when I wake up my legs will aches like crazy..but oh well..

I am also planning to try and put swimming into my exercise schedules but for the moment I do not want to over work my muscles.

How about you guys?

I started because I was diagnosed as being diabetic. I have lost 67 pounds(from 287 to to around 225) but like you I have hit a wall. I did it by folowing a low carb diet and using a tread mill and exercise bike for a half hour each day. Now that good weather is here I've started golfing, which the way I play involves a lot of walking. Hopefully I can lose around another 25-30 pounds. If I can get below 200 lbs it will be the first time I have weighed that little since the 7th grade(almost 40 year ago.)

Hi, Eternaldarkness!
I think that your idea is good, but I guess that i couldn't do that cause I'm so lazy and I don't have a strong personality however I'd like to lose weith too, 9 lbs, therefore I'm with you and I animate you when You need it. Go for It!

Thanks mate,
This is just what I need. Its' so hard to lose weight without support and motivation.
Since hitting my forties I've piled on the weight and found it really hard to lose, I've tried diets ( in my opinion they don'y work) but if you eat well and don't deny yourself a treat from time to time then you shouldn't have to go on a diet. The hardest thing for me is excersing, I've been to 3 gyms now and all I've lost is the money I paid for in membership fees.
I ideally like to lose at least 3 -4 stone ( sorry don't know what that is in kilos ).
I'm looking forward to reading peoples views and getting support.
Thanks once again and I can be of support to someone as well.

Everyone can call me Shaun.

I am glad I am getting response.

Jft245, you are amazing! To lose 67 pounds is something very hard to do and you have accomplished that. I believe that if you continue to try, like you are trying now, you will lose all that weight in a not a very long time. I do agree with you that playing golf will help you to reach your goal. Most of the time, walking and being under the sun will help you sweat more. To be honest with you, I started gaining weight in highschool and never could lose it. It was until after 4 years of highschool that was when I realized I had gained too much, but I couldn't do anything about it. I was too, giving up, until recently I told myself if all others can do it and you can read their success stories here and there, WE CAN TOO!
--

switchboyad!!! Do not say that. I know my first rule is honesty but do not say that. You are not lazy and you know it. You have only that much to lose and you shouldn't give up anytime soon. Nobody is born with a strong personality. You must believe in yourself and give yourself the confident to build a strong personality. I am here, infact, we are all here to motivate you. Everyone is lazy, I have to admit, but you can change that instantly. How about tomorrow, just take a short moderate-pace walk for 15 minutes around your home and neighborhood areas. Start out small, you don't have to do anything much. Just tell yourself this is your first guiding step to success. TRUST ME, when you come back tomorrow you will realize that the drops of sweats that you have let out during your walk is proof you are on the right path. You will feel better! Why don't you do just that tomorrow, I am only suggesting so you don't need to do it at all if you do not feel like it. Everyone came here to get to their goal, and if you stick to yours, I am pretty sure you will be the first or among the firsts to lose all that weight!

Kontiki59 you have truly understand what I mean. I cannot lose weight by myself, never. For the first several months that I started exercising and dieting, it was so hard. None of my friends wanted to join me. I was left alone to had no one to play tennis with. How could I start losing weight when none of my friends wanted to help me? Easy, I pull my mom, sister, little cousins who are only 8 and 10 years old to play. I know it sounds ridiculous but I really needed the exercise. Guess what? I had fun. The tennis was boring but running around to pick up all the balls that they hit outside really helped keep my motivation up!
Diet in my opinion is not some type of food that you can eat or cannot eat. Diet to me is to restrain from overeating, and I did that all the time (over-eating!!). I began to tell myself : small portions! As my teacher in HS taught, when you are very hungry, a small anything will make you full, but you have to wait about 10 to 15 minutes. Therefore, eat a small little bit and then ignore the food. Pretty soon in 15 minutes, you will forget you are even hungry at all.
Exercising is alway very hard. I do not join any gyms because that was a huge mistake. Without motivations and support from a friend, I find it totally boring and unexciting to go to the gym alone. Instead of running on a treadmill, try running around the neighborhood. To help myself to do that, I went and bought myself new running shoes that are comfortable, new running sport socks, a small gadget to calculate miles and a very cheap radio (or ipods if you prefer) to listen too and use during my running. Believe it or not, with the music you will feel less tiring. Do not waste your money at the gym no longer. Later on when you have the motivation then you can go there, but as for now...you should know that I am somewhere..possibly on the other side of the earth motivating, exercising, (perhaps even) jogging/running with you!

Keep up everyone!

Hi guys,

I'm not so worried about the weight, I'm worried about the fat. If I were to just loose my chubbiness I think I would like to loose 20 kgs. I'm 110 now I'd really like to be below 100. I'd really like to fit my 92 cm pants instead of the 102cm ones I'm wearing now.

I've started walking to work. The goal tomorrow is to join the gym at work. I have a friend who want to go, so that should help, we can motivate each other - although I have to admit, I have a lot more work to do than him.

My motivation is that I'm 25 and chubby - always have been, I'd like to get in shape, before It all goes down hill. I'd like to have an attractive body, that I'm not ashamed of.

Can I make a suggestion for this thread. I think we should all take photos of our bodies, and post them, we could show our progress - would help us stay motivated I think.

here is some motivation for you :D

that photo on the left is just scary

joshbloggs, that is the attitude that I really wanted to hear. Not only did your motivation will help you but reading what you just wrote above really made me want to try even harder.

That idea isn't bad either. Whenever we feel lazy we can alway check back to this thread to see other's success stories. I really hope you and your friend can get you guy's goal soon and I would love to see you wear those size 92cm pants.

AJ you are the bravest person I have met here so far. Not only was you the first person to post up the pictures but you posted it up with tenacity and courage!!!

The photo on the left showed a person who was very unhappy about his image, the eyes of sorrow and regrets... that person is no longer.

The person on the right is strong and brave. Through your eyes, I can see new beginnings and hopes.
---

May everyone who saw these images will feel very motivated to make new changes and shed away those images of undesire.

C'mon people! Tell us about yourself or what you have done today and how do you feel after doing it!

Right now its almost 3 in the morning, so I have to go to bed now. I will wake up tomorrow and go exercising again. You will read my post tomorrow then.

EternalDarkness,

There are many causes for hitting a plateau of weight-loss.

Last year, I happened upon a cool site for men who want to lose weight and make friends at the same time.

Check out http://www.realjock.com/

They have a lot of fitness information, advice, and motivators for not only losing weight, but for forging a fitness lifestyle.

Remember that the best motivation for being fit is quality of life. There is something about being fit that makes your mind/body feel a sense of wellbeing.

Good luck. Maybe when you've become a ripped athlete, you'll post us a couple of pix so we can share your triumph!

CONGRATS to all who have decided to lose some weight! Totally awesome! I have lost 20 lbs and 4 inches off my waist! already and have like 10-12 more to lose until I am going to be comfortable with myself completely. I don't need washboard stomach, but a flat stomach would be nice. my biggest goal was getting rid of my dickie doo and I got that accomplished. I follow the ABS diet, from the editor of Men's Health magazine. works phenomenally. no hunger, variety of foods, and easy to follow exercise routines. I strength train 3 times a week, circuit style. I have to step up the cardio though, those last 10 lbs are a real bitch! lol.

Oky doky... Here's my stats...

Current weight, BMI and Body Fat Percentage: ~180 lbs., 23.6, ~19% (for Body Fat Percentage, I used this http://www.he.net/~zone/prothd2.html)

Goal: Well, I want to lose fat, but gain lean muscle mass at the same time... Basically, I want to have a somewhat athletic body, you know the one, with the nice abs, pecs, etc... ;) My goal for weight is uncertain, but for Body fat percentage, I eventually want it to be less than 15%, and some day, less than 10%.

Diet: Well, currently, I try to eat as healthy as possible. For breakfast, I usually eat cereal, or, if I have time, make eggs and pancakes. For lunch... Well, depends on what I want. I sometimes have a sub, but lunch for me is usually a salad, with a roll, fruit, and soup. And dinner, well, whatever my mom makes for dinner (still live with parents, and going to be with them till maybe end of Freshmen year or halfway through sophomore year). I try to control my portions, but I cave into pressure from my mom to eat more...

Exercise: I try to exercise, but like others, I don't have the motivation or drive. Once in a great while, I will be inspired to go out and jog for an hour. I have started lifting weights, 3x a week, each day with a certain muscle group (Monday - Upper body, Wed.- Total Body, Fri- Lower Body), and again, I try to jog, but for some reason, it doesn't feel right whenever I run. Maybe it's my shoes, or the music on my iPod... Any suggestions there will be most appreciated.

Also, I want to add that since summer is coming up, I am going to try and swim more, but I am trying to save up for my first car, and other stuff, and will be getting a second job for those purposes, so my life will be busy this summer.

Plans: For my diet, I plan on eating more but smaller, healthier meals, maybe eating every two hours (somewhere I read that if you eat frequently, your metabolism stays "on" and continually burns the calories?). For exercise, I plan to jog more, maybe do some swimming, and since I have DDR:Max (Dance Dance Revolution: Max) for PS2, I might just do that more often... Just have to learn. :-) And lastly, I think that I will try to get more sleep, as I am writing this at 12:25 AM, and I have to wake up in about 5.5 hours...:(

Wow, what a great idea SexyGuy!! I'll make it a sticky and see if it holds on... that way it will always be at the top. If you prefer otherwise, let me know and I can unstick it.

Losing weight is difficult, no doubt. I have not yet had that problem but I do stick to a fairly regular exercise routine. The key imo is doing something that you enjoy that is active. If it is something you don't really like, it is going to be hard to stick to it. For instance, I hate running. I've tried a few times b/c I know that it is good for you in general, but I don't like the thought of it, I don't like doing it, and I don't feel all that great after it. So I switched and went to swimming, which I love. So make sure you like what you're doing. Sometimes you have to try it for a while before you give up on it though. Like weight lifting... if I haven't done it for a while, it sucks and I'm unhappy. But I know that if I push through I get to a point where it is enjoyable on a regular basis.

Good luck to all and keep us posted. SexyGuy, I'll let you run with this since it was your idea. Let me know if there is anything you want help with along the way... excellent idea!!

Uhm... just wanna correct you. I didn't think about making this thread a sticky. Eternaldarkness and joshbloggs are the ones who should get the credit for this thread, and the idea of making this a sticky, respectively...

Oh, and before I go to sleep, here's my post:

Today I didn't feel like exercising. I felt depressed, tired, and there's more, just too much to list. Though, I should say that I now feel happy. Had my first gay kiss (yup. I'm a virgin... lol) and it was from a guy that I have wanted to be with... Details later.

Back to exercise. I finally did go exercising, but it wasn't really anything. I rode my bike to and from the tanning salon, and then had a Cookies & Cream Frappe Freeze and a cookie. So all the calories I burned was for naught. Oh well... Time for bed.

Thank you Scottyz, that was a really great website to look at. I will definately post some pictures when I lose all the weight and get the ripped athletic body I am thriving for!

StormofSwords921, congratulation on your success so far. The Abs diet from the men's magazine must be really great. The last 10lbs are a real bitch to lose, yes, but do not give up. Eat right, exercise moderately and pretty soon, the next time you step on that scale, the weights might be off already without you knowing it!! My goal was to get a flat stomach and be comfortable with myself too, but now since I have almost reached my goal, I decided to push on even further and I think you need to do that too! If you can lose the last 10 lbs and keep up with your motivation, you'll lose 10 more and then some more and those abs will definately start to show up! Keep up the good work my friend!

SexyGuy!! Wow, DDR is also something I love to do too! I am still using it whenever I am bored and tired of running. Talking about running, the shoes is a must but the music is also very important. I try to get music that has a steady beat to it, something I can count to, so when I jog i'll jog along with the beat. I tend to start out with a slow beat..then the next song a faster beat, the next song really hiphoppidy fast and then go back to the slower beats. It gets so much better that way. I do not like to chose music that I know I will definately sing too! Music from the Black Eye Peas are great to listen to when you jog. Music that you can sing with, will make you run out of air even faster. Another thing that is quite important is drink alot of water before you run, and when I say a lot, I mean A LOT! It helps fill you up with energy that you will burn off with sweat and feel so much better. One last thing is a small gadget you can buy at the store for cheap, something that will tell you how many miles you have jogged. Make a goal for the first night. In half an hour jog 1 mile. Then the next time, in half an hour jog 2. Don't do too much because you will feel too sore after and lose the motivation to jog again.

Eating smaller portions is best and I do that! Stop drinking sodas and before you pick something up from the stores from drinks to food, look at the calories. If you know you must exercise a long time to burn that junk food, you will train yourself to stop eating it.

--

Jockboy01 thank you for making this thread into a sticky and I love it! It is so much easier to find and I do not need to search for it. Perhaps by doing it that way, more people will become attracted and we will all help each other to lose weight together!

I totally agree on what you have said above. The key is to chose an exercise you enjoy and like! Some people likes running, some people like playing sports, some like swimming. I like all three therefore I mixed them all up. I do not like lifting weights but I know that is a must after I lose all my fats.

Hehehe, do not worry about the mistakening of Sexy guy and I, we have similar avatars so that must be the reason why. Even though it was my idea and I started this thread, but I really do not care anyone running this thread.

We all came here to get motivation and we should all work together and share the credits. Without all of you guys participation, this thread wouldn't be a great idea at all! Thank you all!

SoccerFck, do not say that. I know you are not proud of your weight but you should be proud of yourself. Being able to open up and be honest to me and all others on here, that is already a very big leap that you have taken toward success.

I totally understand what you are saying about hitting a wall too, as I do feel that way. Recently I've been trying even harder. On sunday I was suppose to jog 3 miles in the morning but I pushed it even further and went to the beach to play football, soccer, and swimming. It was fun and very enjoyable. You just could never give up. You have seen the outcome when you did. For some other people, gaining weight is hard, but for us...gaining 5 to 10 lbs can be a matter of a week or two. *sigh*

Long post!!!?? My posts are wayy even longer. Honesty is the first rule in here. Being honest just doesn't come up in a few words, even if your post takes half the page here, I will read it all! The key to jogging is to not do too much. Start small. Each time try a little longer a little longer. You do not need a partner!! You're jogging for yourself because you need to stand up for yourself to lose those weight! Exercising is boring, but will become something you will enjoy once you've gotten use too. I am addicted already. If I stay home one night and do nothing, I will start to hate myself. When you are really lazy, and we all do MOST of the time, just go take a 15 minute walk. At least we are doing something besides sitting home to gain more weight!

Too bad we are like an ocean apart, or else I would love to be your jogging buddy! But, that is why you came here. We all need motivation to exercise. I will try my best to give advice and do that.

on my days that i feel really lazy, I will work on my abs with a machine call ABSLIDE. If you can get it right and in the correct position, you will see tightening of your abs in less than a week. It also works out my shoulder, chest and biceps.

I really recommend anyone to try this. I will gladly help out if you need help on the correct position. It is very easy, but it doesn't come with a thorough instruction on how to use correctly. Ofcourse, there are others exercise machines you can buy, so I am just only suggesting what I am using.

SexyGuy, gladly your evening turned out great. Congratulation on your first kiss. I am so glad it was with the person that you wanted.

You did exercise today. Who say it isn't enough?! As long as you felt great and you feel it was your best for the day, riding your bike is a great thing to lose weight. You should feel proud and do that more often.

I do that, I'll reward myself with something when I feel great about myself. I do not blame you. Don't do that too much though. hehehe.

Eternaldarkness and joshbloggs are the ones who should get the credit for this thread, and the idea of making this a sticky

Sexy guy and I, we have similar avatars so that must be the reason why.

Bingo, that's exactly what happened. I should have directed my earlier post toward you eternaldarkness. But as you said, I just was looking at the avatars (haha, I'm a visual person) and they are similar enough that I didn't pay attention... and the writing styles aren't dramatically different either. I could go back and edit but now I'd have to edit several posts.... so I'll just leave this and please accept my apologies for not being more attentive haha.

Eternaldarkness, as to lifting weights... I don't like it either at first. And I didn't like it for a long time when I first started, but now, it's actually fun. Each person is different and I know a LOT of guys like to do it with a partner and they make it into a social hour. I like to just go alone with my headphones and get lost in the music while I do it. So it is just important to find out what you like in this way as well.

Thanks Shaun for starting this thread,

I've lost 12lbs in the last two months, but I need to lose 100lbs more, I was at 318lbs when I start at the beginning of march, now at 305lbs. Its will be hard to reach my goal, but with all the help and encouragement here, I will do my best to reach it. Thanks guys, and don't give up.

one thing i have to say is dont rush it

what i did first was just change What i was eating to healthier stuff but eating as much as i wanted

trust me salads take longer to eat and that is good for making you more full while eating less

the biggest thing for me was not to be on a diet but just trying to eat better to be more healthy and not worrying about losing weight so get rid of the scales and just be healthier ..|
