!oops! OK I loved the pic of this internet guy with the dick so much that I did a right click on the image and set it up as Wallpaper in a comp I sometimes use publicly.

Well I obviously removed it later

BUT - I see it now in my Control panel in the Library of Desktp images!
[Control panel > Appearances and themes>Display> Desktop> Background]

Im NOT obviously OK with that and realize its my fault for being so stupid.

But hey, does anybody know anyway of removing it?

Thanks in advance

Hey buddy!

Yer, try the way trawler has described. Although...I think that if you right click an image from tinterweb and set it as your background it doesn't get placed in the C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper folder...that folder just stores the default Windows XP Wallpapers.

I maybe wrong but if you can't find the wallpaper in that folder then if you just find another 'suitable' image on the internet and set that as your background, the current 'Internet Explorer Wallpaper' (which is what it appears like in the list of Backgrounds in the 'Display' menu) should change to the suitable background.

Hope this works if trawlers method doesn't!

Wow
To think it was that straightforward!
Im actually at another comp right now - and will run over and fix it soons I can
Gosh thanks guys

The aviator is spot on. If it doesn't work just do what you did before with a more suitable image. lol

Guys - I tried Aviators idea
It wont go away!
Let me clarify - I dont have it as a desktop.
I have it in the bunch of pics that make up a library of desktop images in the Control panel - under Display. You know like a lil comp screen with a list of image files under it.

Trevor Im particularly interested to know how to reach C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper
I cant see an address area - you know like a title bar
Are we talking different models of Windows here?

PS I dont use Windows Explorer to browse my files

well what do you use to browse your files?
and which browser are you using?
where did you rightclick on the image to set it as a background?

to reach your windows directory try
start -> run -> %windir%
ok

you should be in your windows directory with the windows explorer.
search the wallpaper there.

Most browsers are pretty similar. Goto my computer, double click on your c: drive scroll down to windows folder, double click it inside scroll down to folder called web, double click it, do the same with wallpaper folder and there are your wallpaper files.

Alternatively, if you know the files name do a search from the start menu for it, takes a lot longer unless you know how to narrow the search.

final way & you should not need to do this: Start Run, type "command" Enter.
screen comes up with dos prompt in black window type cd.. hit enter do this until you get the prompt c:\> now type dir windows\web\wallpaper hit enter and you have a list of the files type del filename.xxx where "filename.xxx" is the embarassing one. Hope this helps good luck.

If there is a list of images in the 'Control Panel --> Display --> Desktop Tab' am I correct in saying that they are saved on your computer somewhere else... maybe in your 'My Documents' or 'My Pictures' folders...because if thats the case you could simply change the desktop background and then delete the images from the appropriate folder...

If you want to open the folder (C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper) theres another way you could use...
Click Start -> Click Run and then......(see Attached Image).

I'm really baffled buddy if that don't work...I'll have a look about the internet for you though...

Hey Aviator the advice you give is good. I'm only new on here and am giving the best advice know. It's just difficult to express it in specific instructions. If it was my problem I'd sort it in no time flat, but thanks for not writing me off as an imbercile

Ahoy mates!
Up like a bad egg again!

OK - I have the image saved in My documents - you know just a folder of my prize porn pics in teh My Documents folder.

I right clicked it and when it said save as wallpaper I clicked - and boom it was there on my desktop.

Well, like I said - its a semi public comp - so I opened up a more acceptable pic from my My Pictures folder and set that one up as a Desktop image instead.

Guilt over.

OK - now fast forward to a quick review of my My Computer folder - I went over happily clicking down through Control panel and then to Appearances and Themes and then to Display.

Well it opened another (smaller) window which has these tabs saying "Themes" "Desktop" "Screensaver" etc.

When I opened the "Desktop" tab I saw a lil computer screen ( like a monitor) that had a folder like thing called "Background" It found dozens of pics I had earlier put up as Desktop images - nice ones - totally unoffending - stored as icons.

But thats also where my masterbating stud pic lay - and thats where I want to remove it from.

Its not under a Wallpaper folder guys (which I did get to navigate to btw)

Thanks again all - sorry to be such a dumb ass

you could try in the following location. it will probably be a bitmap file (.bmp)

C:\Documents and Settings\USER_Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

USER_Name would be the account name you signed on with. if you are set up where you don't use an account name, then check under administrator, all users, default user, or owner. It should be in one of those.

Well, the report!

Turns out the best way was to use a new picture to set up a Wallpaper.
It dislodged the masturbating stud - very interestingly and peacefully resides in the "library" I mentioned also.

Deleting didnt work - simply coz I couldnt locate a folder as I navigated ( Its not in the Wallpaper folder)

Thanks a bunch all. Youve generatd a new curioosity about my machine:D
