It has been forever since I scanned my computer for adware, spybots and such, so I figured I'd finally update my Ad-Aware program and do so.
I downloaded the new one they have up, uninstalled the old one I had, and installed 7.1.0.8 version. The only problem is now is that it wont install updates. It'll download them and attempt to install them, but after each one is "installed" I get an Update Dependency Failed error. I've looked through the forums they have and didn't see much of a solution.
So either as a replacement, or at least until they can fix this error, what would you suggest as another good, free, adware remover?

Linux :)
I would help you all the way from installation to tweaking it into your liking if you would agree to install Ubuntu...

Um... I've been on Ubuntu for 2 years but now I'm back on XP. Compatibility issues. But if your hardware is compatible, you really should consider trying Ubuntu, it's fabulous.

And as AdAware didn't work for you, Spybot should be your first choice.

I was thinking about using Spybot. I used it before I went to Ad-Aware and it worked pretty well. I just had to ask for suggestions because I wasn't sure if anything better had come along since I stopped using it.
Also, thanks for the Linux suggestion Persian, but I'm still liking XP. I may try switching over to it...at a later date though, after I get a newer PC (No matter how hard I try I'm still not all that crazy about Vista).

I had completely forgotten about Defender. I thought I read something quite a while ago that they were putting into some suite and you had to pay for it. Glad they didn't, I'll have to test it out.
