Yes i said it, he was a great man.
My question is, how did he touched YOUR life personally ?
He didn't touch mine at all. That is why i want to know.

RULES:
* On topic only
* Don't talk about me

Just read the rules and fellow, enough about me !!!
So the great man didn't touch your life either or did he ..

My ex-boyfriend took me to two Catholic masses. On both of them the priest thrust his hands towards heaven and uttered—

Protect Us Thus Our Mystery!

I have no idea what their mystery was, but I can tell that those Catholics just love their Mystery.

They had another favourite catchphrase—

The Lord Moveth in StrangeWays

:confused:

He helped to change the world, I live in the world.

Whether you know it or not telly, both our lives would have been different if it hadn't been for great men changing the world.

Someone has said "It was a privilege just to live in the same age as some of these giants".

I wonder who the other "Giants" of Our Age are?

As I have always (since memory from my youth serves me) envisioned our world as being just & fair Mr. Mandela seemed to me to be working towards a similar goal of peace and fairness for all races equally.

Maybe becuz I am gay and have known my sexual proclivities and tendencies since early in my youth I have always championed the cause for equality across all spectrum of humanity (including sexuality) and to me--whether being true or over stated enough--reports about Mr. Mandela have Dr. Mandela championing the cause of the less fortunate--thus--through Mr. Mandela's example of hope & action--I maintain hope for the future of our species.

I went to Robben Island.
Very desolate place

To my mind Mandela was a reformed terrorist.
Sure he did good things but he also did some awful things.
Do the ends justify the means?
Who can say?

“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” - Nelson Mandela

In 2004 my partner and I went to Johannesburg a former str8 room mate of ours was having a 21st Birthday Party. While there he took us to the Apartheid Museum which was one of the most moving places I have been. In countless recorded interviews with Mandela he is always asked should the white people leave. He always states this is a country that all are equal citizens in no one will or should leave. Below is the first paragraph of the South Africa Bill Of Rights;

1.Everyone is equal before the law and has the right to equal protection and benefit of the law.

2.Equality includes the full and equal enjoyment of all rights and freedoms. To promote the achievement of equality, legislative and other measures designed to protect or advance persons, or categories of persons, disadvantaged by unfair discrimination may be taken.

3.The state may not unfairly discriminate directly or indirectly against anyone on one or more grounds, including race, gender, sex, pregnancy, marital status, ethnic or social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, conscience, belief, culture, language and birth.

4.*1 No person may unfairly discriminate directly or indirectly against anyone on one or more grounds in terms of subsection (3). National legislation must be enacted to prevent or prohibit unfair discrimination.

Try to find that in the U.S. Constitution they could not even pass ERA (Equal Rights Under the law for all regardless of SEX

Those two clips WERE without incident. ...

Yes, you're right. I've seen so many clips of local funerals where the massed crowd break into spontaneous dancing and seem to whip themselves into a frenzy. And I suppose that's cathartic but I assume the government will want the occasion to be PR exercise as well. And the whole world will be watching the stadium service on TV.
