On Topic Discussion Nelson Mandela was a great man

Taking your Bill of Rights literally you cannot discriminate against women in getting married. But you also may not discriminated against men in choosing a marriage partner. Trying to prohibit private discrimination is absurd and a denial of essential liberties.

Conceded.

But from the reading of it, I'm not sure how soundly sleep the heads of gay couples in that rape and murder statistic.

I'll concede that.

Black lesbians have it very bad out in the townships and rural areas.

Ralph Nader is a giant for consumer safety and rights.

Rachel Carson was a giant in advocating for the environment and the planet.

Jimmy Carter is a giant for humanitarianism, most enduringly, for making huge strides in containing Guinea Worm.

Fred Rogers was a giant for his ministry in creating an educational focus to help latch-key kids who were sitting in front of televisions vegetating away before he designed programming to make that entertainment time educational.

Martin Luther King was a giant for leading in wisdom in civil rights, effecting change through championing unity rather than division.

Mahatma Gandhi was a giant for breaking the yoke of the British Empire as it cynically manipulated religious strife and ethnic divisions in India for mercantile gain.

Nelson Mandela was a great man because he demonstrated that the struggle IS worth it, that the oppressed CAN become liberated. His endurance under such onerous imprisonment helped give me and others courage when taking stands in the face of much lesser opposition but still for good causes. Whenever a man takes a stand, others benefit from hope the example provides.

The list goes on and on. We do not lack for great figures who have been servants of the planet.

That was me. Damn parents and their teaching jobs

On TV:
That is what i was expected for a funeral of a 96 year old person.
A celebration and not mourning and crying about the lost.
