I thought I'd start this for the Netflix fans out there. I use Netflix for my foreign, art, and hard to find stuff.

I just finished watching a funny one titled "Preaching to the Perverted" It's British. Tom Bell is in it he's pretty hot IMO too.

I use netflix and lately most of my movies have been produced/distributed by a company called Think Film. Most of them have been really good. a couple that come to mind

Live Free or Die
The Dog Problem
Little Athens
Life of the Party
Off The Black
Keeping Mum

I used to use NetFlix - in my experience they have no love for their customers and do a poor job of faking it.

Y'all probably know how the NetFlix service works. You pay a flat monthly fee, and as a member you're able to queue up a list of the movies you want to see. They send the DVDs that are on the top of your list first, allowing you to have a few titles checked out at a time. You keep the DVD for as long as you want, with no late fees, but you don't get the next titles from your queue until you return the ones you have checked out.

But here's the reality:

  • NetFlix throttles the queue, and intentionally delays shipping of your "next" title if you are watching and returning them faster than the company prefers. (thats called "unlimited rentals" in their marketing)
  • If your returned DVD doesn't make it through the channels to netFllix, they'll put you under suspicion of being a DVD thief and treat you accordingly.
  • If you cancel your memebership, they don't even care enough to ask why.

We simply stopped renting altogether. We watch fewer movies, and when we want to see one we go out.

We've never had a problem with them, and their monthly rate just went down (probably to compete with Blockbusters).
We don't use them as often in the fall or winter, but during the other seasons TV programming just about sucks.
We are enjoying them even more now because we missed the first few seasons of "the Sopranos" and didn't want to tune in mid-stream, so we are seeing that in its' entirety. They will ship tham in sequence with 3 - 4 episodes per DVD.
Several months ago there was a similar post and someone wrote in that there were regional distributors and some were just better or worse than others.

I love Netflix. I upped my plan to 5 at a time. Hardly a day goes by that I do not have a movie to watch. Comes out to about a buck a day.

I have never had a problem with Netflix. I get my movies the day after they ship them. I have a pretty quick turn-around time and never have they "held" movies because I am quick in returning them.

I am currently renting the entire Queer as Folk series since I don't have Showtime and have not seen any of them, and now I am hooked.

I don't have any major problems with Netflix, although I've been noticing that more and more of my movies having been coming from distribution centers from out of state which means a 2 day or more delay in getting my movies. Not a major problem, but irritating.

The last few movies I rented were:

*Queens- Spanish movie about same sex marriages. Not great, but good acting and the movie is worth watching.

*Rick and Steve- Adult cartoon/puppet show. Well written and highly enjoyable. Watch it with friends, and comment on the action.

*Wedding Wars- Well intentioned movie, but even as a TV movie it was not believable.

*Bobby- The Bobby Kennedy assaination. I didn't enjoy this movie as much as the critics. I found the movie to be slow and never really found any characters that I cared about.
