Never seen the Northern Lights? Look here.

The Northern Lights have a lesser-known and lesser-talked about sister in the Southern Hemisphere – Aurora Australis or "Southern Lights". That's because it's difficult to witness this equally stunning and beautiful display of light outside of Antarctica and points far south within the Southern Hemisphere. And even then, typically only during the six months between March and September on the clearest, coldest nights.

Anthony Powell captured the Aurora Australis on a short film over a ten minute period, near Antarctica's McMurdo Station and Scott Base.

Here's the link to the clip ....

WOW!

The pictures starting at 0:52 and beyond are absolutely breathtaking. I envy all of the above posters who have been lucky enough to witness something so magnificent in person.

(Thanks for the link, ozguy (*8*))

WOW, indeed !

Awesome is the only word that can come close to describing it.

(When watching the vid, make sure to enlarge it, and to turn on the "HQ" and the "Stretch")

Kisses to ozguy,

That's made me add a trip "up north" to my bucket list...|

I have always wanted to see the Northern Lights. They have been seen here in Pittsburgh twice, and I missed them both times! My mother and sister saw the full spectrum and even the whirlpool mentioned above.
