Never trust the Greek boy friend Lol

He can write a tell-all book and make a fortune.

No one is entitled to anyone else's money. For ANY reason. A person's possessions are distributed as they wish, not the wishes of companions or family members.
That said, no one on this board knows why Michael did not leave his former companions any money. So, it's all speculation. There must have been a reason Michael did this, and perhaps that led to Fawaz being left out of the will. I would never expect to be in someone's will, not even my parents' will. It was their money, not mine.

^ Excuse me, but isn't leaving possessions to spouses, children and family the default in the U.S. (and most countries)?

Yes and no.

If they have a will and they keep it updated, yes.

If they don't have a will and they didn't legally marry the partner, then the partner only inherits the stuff that also has their name on it. The rest of the estate is passed to nearest relatives.

For some reason, George Michael's will left most of his estate to his sisters. The will also left money to some friends, a former backup singer, et al. He didn't leave anything to Fawaz (his lover for the last 9 years of his life) or Kenny Voss, his previous lover (who was with him for 13 years).

If someone dies intestate, depending on the state you live in, your estate will be divided between spouse and children. So that would be by default. How is it in Amsterdam?

In France you can’t disinherit your family. No family then 65% of it goes straight to the state in taxes.

^ The Netherlands probably got its inheritance system from France.

^^ I should ask my sister, she's a notaris, but it's one of two most hated aspects of lawyer's work that they get asked stuff by family and friends.

I know that disowning children or spouses is normally virtually impossible and taxation on estates left to non-family members very high.
