I'm very new to the gay world. I've never met anyone and I'm not aware of how to begin. I've been to this site before...browsing...but just want get a few tips on how to meet people online and maybe in person. Are there any sites that are good for this and area specific? I'm in the DC area and I don't go to clubs.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Good grief man! You are in a metropolitan area with a HUGE gay population. You do not have to be a barfly to meet people. Remember...as many people as you do see in the bars, there are that many more people that NEVER go to the bars. There are tons of things going on in the way of events, social non-bar gatherings, etc...Check into some of the local gay publications that list all these things. Meeting on line has become an acceptable standard but, unfortunately, has many downsides. Some have been successful with it while others found it a miserable experience. Depends on what you want. Too many on line sites are nothing but "meat markets". If that's what you want, that's fine. There are some great guys here on JUB and some really fine people. I've met several in my area. Make yourself known, get involved on JUB, be yourself and you'll naturally meet others.
 
There are lots of resources for you in DC. Pick up a free copy of the Washington Blade, or check it out at: www.washblade.com . You should find at least a couple of things you're interested in outside of bars.
