New friend not returning calls

Hey guys,

What should I do if a new friend isn't returning my calls? I met him at a service project that we did together. I got to know him a bit and told him that I'd like to hang out sometime. So, I called him twice (didn't pick up either time) and left a message two weeks ago, but he still hasn't returned a call! I assume that he is gay and I admit that I'm attracted to him, but I could be wrong of course. Just being friends is fine too. Is it possible that he isn't interested in me as a friend, or does he just suck with his phone?

Yeah, I really did think that, but I felt a bit silly and paranoid about it.
 
It can be hard tell since you have only met him once. He may be quite shy. Give him another week. If you do not hear from him, I would guess he is not interested in anything. Do you guys live near each other?
 
Yeah, his dorm is right next to mine. We've crossed paths once and exchanged "hellos", but I guess the next time we do cross paths I should ask him about it. And yeah, he does seem like a shy and low-key guy. I am as well.

Ok, so I've been able to ask him about it, and apparently he turns his phone off alot.. We've able to get together once and got to know each other better, though it seems that he may be overwhelmed by my "randomness." I thought he was gay because of his body gestures, but he told me that he has a GF, which was a bit shocking to me. When he asked me if I had one, I said : "Nope, never will." I don't know what he thought of that.

Lately, its seems that hes been acting shy and awkward around me. A part of me is going: "oh, hes totally lying, he doesnt has a girlfriend and is complettttttely fruity" and the other side is "forget it and move on, lady!" But more than anything else, I hope he isn't avoiding me.

Has anyone else had problems dealing with a shy guy who seems gay but isn't? Being a sorta-shy guy myself, I only tend to shoot for similar guys.
 
I have the same issue with this guy that seems totally gay but "isnt". I'm fine with being just friends too but I'm attracted to him. Same exact situation...the gestures, voice, etc. It definitely sucks :(
