They look ridiculous

I am surprised they didn't just get Hugo Boss to update a look for them.

the dress uniform my police department had was similar to these...most of them pd's have similar dress uniforms....very uncomfortable. They didn't age well with todays standards...

This is the same state that banned straws/plastic bags, and containers and had a COVID vaccine mandate for healthcare workers, so i am not surprised.

What's with the hazard signs on the lapels? Are those tunics lined with asbestos or something?

I don’t recognize the insignia on the lapel.

And the Oak Clusters or whatever is on the hats of the ubergruppenfuhrers?

Who thought that would be a good idea after WWII?

Pretty popular for the dating scene though...and with a long history back to the cavalry.

He'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats!

My State's Highway Patrol has this type of uniform for "dress" occasions such as funerals. This class of uniform is not for patrol duty, accident reconstruction, and truck inspections. The regular patrol duty uniform does include the shoulder strap (it helps support the gun belt equipment) over the normal shirt, but under the jacket during cool weather.

Was at a club in Vancouver recently and a guy had a latex Mountie uniform on. I think that was a bit more compelling. Good for New Jersey for trying though, thumbs up.

Most departments have this type of dress uniform for special occasions or for entering in "best dressed" contests that police departments enter every year. They are the hottest and most uncomfortable things to wear; when I was director they were made of mostly wool blend. Hotter than hell, scratchy, and ensured you sat up straight because they didn't give anywhere. Most patrol officers today look like they are headed off to war with the outside kevlar vests, multiple clips for their sidearm, taser, collapsible baton, zip ties, portable radio, camera, and ballistic plate. I know studies have shown that officers wear so much equipment today that they develop back injuries as they age. There are several companies and departments rethinking about what all they wear and creating a better style for everyday use.
