Madlib is offering lots of releases this year. He's released his Medicine Show records in January and the beginning of February. I think I read he's releasing a new record each month for the entire year. How awesome is that?

Can't wait for the next Beat Konducta record at the end of the month and the record from his Young Jazz Rebels project in April. The latest Yesterday's New Quintet record is already out. I hope he gives us another Quasimoto record at the end of the year. That would be a killer Christmas gift!

Madlib Medicine Show No. 3: Beat Konducta in Africa will be released March 23 as the third installment of the producer's one-release-a-month music series for 2010. Beat Konducta in Africa will be released as CD, 2/LP, limited 3/LP deluxe, and digitally.

Beat Konducta in Africa is an instrumental hip-hop album produced & mixed with Madlib, featuring J. Rocc. This album bases itself on the obscure vinyl gems from the afro-beat, funk, psych-rock, garage-rock & soul movements of African countries as diverse as Zambia, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Botswana and Ivory Coast.

Madlib's Beat Konducta instrumental series - created from Madlib's raw beat tapes - began in 2006 with Movie Scenes, an imaginary movie & TV soundtrack with the feel of Blaxpoitation soul, afro-psychedelia and moody progressive rock. Beat Konducta in India (Vol. 3-4) and A Tribute to J Dilla (Vol. 5-6) followed in 2007 and 2009.

3LP DELUXE Limited edition, 3 disc, 43-track version. The album covers are individually silk screened and numbered by Hit+Run in variations of black, gold, and red. 1250 of this edition will be made.

2LP EDITION 2 disc, 37-track album (without bonus tracks), with printed cover.

CD EDITION Full version of the album with 12-page CD booklet.

This leaked over the weekend. Haven't had a chance to give it a listen. Have you? Your thoughts?

LMAO. Yeah I "got it" and I feel a bit guilty about "getting it", but anyways. I listened to a few tracks throughout the day and enjoyed them. Jungle Sounds(part one) is nice soulful cool out track.

I don't know much about Afro beat music/musicians(aside from Fela, Sean Kuti, Tony Allen and lil bit of Miriam Makeba), but I'm loving his sampling/reinterpretations of classic Afro beat tracks into contemporary soulful / hip hop, head bobbing beats.

The perfect album for a long flight to the Motherland LOL.

On producing Erykah Badu:

Madlib-produced "Strawberry Incense", which opens with a bed of harps and vinyl static before Badu's soaring vocals take it into the astral plane.
