Yep. I've been sorta keeping up with the news on the fires in NM.
With the wind, heat & drought down there, that's just gonna to keep on going, there's not much they can do to truly stop it (wind being the worst factor, especially when its to the point they can't get the planes & choppers up).
They need rain, and need it bad.
In my home-state of Colorado its similar weather conditions (just not quite as dry or hot) if we don't get some meaningful rain, its just a matter of time before the same type of thing starts up here. Scary thought.
Not looking good though:
Attached graphics are forecast condition for the next 3 months.
Temperature .. Warmer than normal
Precipitation .. Below normal
Drought .. Persists

And with climate change, it was assumed to only get worse and has, right on schedule, if not before.
A greater disaster looms underground. There is too little water under New Mexico to support the current human population. That isn't putting a dull edge on the avaricious expansion of Albuquerque by developers, greedy for real estate riches, ignoring the strained aquifers.
Beneath Albuquerque is a spreading cloud of contaminated water from the U.S. Air Force, containing leaked jet fuel with one carcinogen that no parts per billion are allowed. It is gradually creeping through the rock from under the base and will eventually render the city's wells unusable. The feds are not jumping to save it or anything. Just weak words.

We're this close to the 5th stage of the apocalypse, which of course means a wardrobe change for me. I have to maintain fabulousness even in the end of times. Maybe especially in the end. It's a lot of pressure but luckily that only enhances my creativity. Just need something to match my eggshell Michael Kors with the spotted owl feathers and lynx fur on the matching wallet. Once I pick my ponytail the rest of the outfit will put itself together.
