medic, I think the idea of whether there is a god or not is important enough that, impossible as it may seem, it is worthwhile at least trying to come to a rational consensus.
For instance, if there really were a god who sent moses down the mountain with instructions, we ought to pay them some heed. To me, personal choice applies to aesthetic things, like which colour i like better or which music is more my style.
Things like "the nature of the universe" or "does anyone hear prayers" matter. Sure, everyone has to make up his own mind. But if other people don't make up their minds in the same way, it should cause concern. The only thing that might be more worrying is if we all agreed - then there isn't even anything to provoke a challenge to the conventional wisdom of the day. Either way, it should cause enough concern to put up with a rousing debate, and enough curiosity about the ideas of others to hear our own views challenged in stark terms.
In that way I'd say there is something wrong with different points of view. One of us hasn't understood something important about the nature of the cosmos, or hasn't explained it properly.
