New Pope Breaks With Basic Foundation of Christianity ... You Don't Have to Believe To Go To Heaven

^Did i side with any other Abrahamic Group , when you replied ? No . I posted after being accused of something concerning yourself , that unlike others you put forth a well thought out viewpoint .

Oh and Jack . Why yes i read the media ! Though i am more than able to come to my own decisions .
The Church is over 2000 years old , and you just cannot expect Francis to change , which is the largest Christian Faith in the World overnight .
But then , some of you do .

Interesting to hear this morning on NPR that Francis likes Chagall, Dostoyevsky...and Borges?

I get Chagall and Dostoyevsky. But Borges? Really?

This man is nuts.

(I'm surprised his recent remarks about gays and abortion haven't engendered much discussion here, btw.)

I didn't say you did. I said it is a common tactic of Abrahamics. However anyone that knows me, knows that I am a feminist and a Pagan and vehemently against the Abrahamic religions.

Yes , that is obvious . Also your choice and your right . As it is my choice and my right to be a Spiritual Person *Abrahamic*....:)

In terms of the substance of his remarks on abortion or gays, it's not really news. It's already settled in most people's minds. If he had said "the church should obsess less over whether people eat seafood before the weekend" it would draw nods and blank stares for the most part because that's not controversial. People can't get excited about the church catching up with the obvious, and the abortion and gay stuff is really only of deep interest to a few doctrinaire types that have already been marginalised from the discussion since back when Ratzinger was still diligently running the Inquisition.

But of course they need to catch up to ensure marketing relevance. I am sure Jorge is good for revenue.

Read his interview. He has not changed his beliefs --he's just saying that the focus of the church should not be just about abortion and gays. He wants to church to preach salvation .. get back to it's roots, so to speak.

I also enjoy reading the works of the brilliant Jorge Luis Borges....I must stop eating almonds....yes, it's all the fault of the almond.

and there's nothing wrong with going back to its roots. The Church has lost a lot since the wrecking balls of the "Spirit of Vatican II", therefore it's time for some serious renewal which will take more time than it took to nearly dismantle the sense of the Sacred, etc.

Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius must be one of the best things ever written. :luv:
