New tests can find out if a child will be gay or straight

So, this will help in my life long quest to have a gay baby?

I'm here for it.

I hope that one day soon we will be able to pinpoint the "gay gene" or whatever it is that makes us so - I believe it'd convince enough people for major social reform to happen with the slightest of ease.

As for the risk of abortion of homosexual foetuses?

Personally, I'd lobby for strict abortion regulation and either make it a) illegal (for non-genetically deformed or result of rape foetuses) or b) mightily expensive with a large percentage of the cost going to gay community groups. Win-win as I see it...

I don't think you are ever going to get a simple test that can tell you with any level of reasonable certainty that a person will be a homosexual or not. Like most aspects of personality the genetic element is just part of the factors that come together to form who and what we are. The gene (or more likely genes) involved just set a precondition that make it more likely we would become homosexual, many other factors involving the development of our personality that occur very early in life will be the determining factor. It has never been Nature (genetic) vs Nurture (environment) it has always been both.

Even if you could isolate a particular gene or genes that are critical to the development of Homosexuality, many of the genes involved in formation of the personality are factors in many different aspects of personality. Would we be willing to eliminate homosexuality in the gene pool by also eliminating the possibility of there ever being another Einstein for example? IT would be hilariously funny to find that the gene sequence that makes one likely to be gay also made one likely to be a devout Christian.

Another recent study: Sexual Orientation: Eyes Reveal Who's Straight & Who's Gay, Study Suggests

The eyes are windows to the soul, and apparently now our sexual orientation. It's sorta frightening that there seems to be so many studies about trying to figure out who is gay and who is not. What's the motivation?

I think the motive is identification (Redundant I know) but I'm totes being serious.

We can identify who is black, who is white, who is male, who is female, why not gay or straight?

Hell, when we can't identify if someone is of a certain race don't a lot of us ask what he/she might be mixed with? Or don't some of us sit and stare for a minute to try and figure out if that is really a girl?

I don't know why, but humans love to identify.

I don't know why, but humans love to identify.

Yes I know. And so did the millions of Jews, and hundred thousands of homosexuals that were identified and killed during the holocaust. I'm just waiting for my pink triangle.

In the future if a child is referred to as "cultured" it'll mean something entirely different.

POD PEOPLE!!
