This is what I'm having for dinner!!

Anybody have any other meal ideas? :slap:
 
Sounds good...! Here in the south you can have anything you want on New Year's day--- as long as it includes cabbage and black eyed peas!
 
buzzj--i have blackeyed peas soaking right now.

i prefer collards to cabbage but both are good!
 
my grandmother always cooked the black-eyed peas and cabbage, but cooked them with a dime in them. always grossed me out.

My grandmother always said that meal was to insure a prosperous New Year:
  • Black eyed peas = coins
  • Cabbage or other greens = folding money
  • And a dime--- I guess it couldn't hurt!!
 
Ron and I are having:

Blackeyed Pea Soup
--Southern Fried Chicken (slowly fried in my G,mother's BIG cast-iron fry pan that she "seasoned" for me)
--Mashed Potatoes with chicken gravy
--Steamed fresh veggies with cheddar cheese sauce
--Home-made buttermilk biscuits

Home-made cherry pie

**Seven layer Taco dip to eat during the ball game(s) and to tide us over till dinner time later on...

Me and my mates will be having leftovers from new years eve's party
 
Being the designated cook in my house (it's a blessing and a curse), I've been assigned to make TWO roasted pork loins, roasted potatoes, dumplings, an vegetables.

The problem is that I really like all of those foods and having to make them is the best way to cure your appetite for them, so by them I'm done making everything, I'll be sick of looking at it. What a waste.
 
Fried eggs, roasted garlic and caramelized onions. Sounds gross but 'Mikey' likes it....lol
