New York Mets 2008

Now,I won't go there regarding David getting pounded really hard inside but it is really difficult to lay off;)

Yeah when I wrote that I used the word hitting instead of pounding on purpose. But I don't think it helped much. The image is still there I guess :p

I'm headed out to the gym, hope to work out some frustration. ;)
Hope we have some good things to talk about tomorrow.

D Wright began to struggle again last night, but in David’s defense the Nats pitcher was banging him hard inside (don’t even think about going there)
Oops,I said "pounding him hard inside" instead of "banging him hard inside"...same mental imagery I suppose...but I will still not go there, hard as it might be!:pWe gotta laugh sonny, all this bullpen anxiety needs a little fun release!;)

Bring em on!:pBrewers just need just a nice stiff wind and they'll go down like dominoes!Pfft!!!:pthe Phillies are more of a challenge but even if we're the wild card,we are where we wanna be...right into playoff action!

Doc Wellington, what did I tell you about the Brewers?Cubs fucked them good last night and the Brew Crew fans are cryin in their suds. They're done now.

Great effort by Santana last night, giving up justine run in seven innings. Not unhittable but masterful, and still struck out eight.Joe Smith gave us worries but Schoenweis and Feliciano held the gates.

David Wright needs a few loving pointers from sonny to ease him out of his slump....after being banged inside so much he just may need a little candlelight dinner and massage, too!:p

Great to see Ryan Church and Brian Schneiderrget it going....two clutch RBI for both, including two solo homers for Schmneider. The Carlos boys keep doing their thing,Jose Reyes is going good again and Daniel Murphy had two more hits....just love what he brings in intensity and dedication every night.

Nah I am not worried about no stinkin Brewers and Phillies. It’s the Cubs I am concerned about, we have four games with them coming up and yes we will see Zambrano. In fact if we don't win the division but win the wild card we play the Cubs in the forst round. But That’s were we separate the men from the boys. All this pussy footin around with the Nats, Braves was just the precursor to the big guns. It will be awesome. Can’t wait.
I’m sure glad to be rid of those Nats bunch of murky, disheveled mutts.

That was off the hook, what a fnish. Damn baseball is great this time of year:D

Everytime I watch Johan pitch I am more and more amazed by him. He is one of a kind, the way he fools the batters changing things up inning after inning. Just as they think they have him figured out they come to the plate and Johan completly confuses them and changes his pitch selection so they are dumbfouded.
I can not get enough of watching him pitch.

Your not gonna let that go are ya, ;)
what, ae you taking pointers from Abs now? :p
David is in a postion like I have never seen him in before. He has had slumps but this time he is taking his anger and frustration out on the field and that concerns me. His Ks are also getting me worried. But I predict once again a new David against the Braves, dono why I jus do. Love ya david.

Daniel Murphy had two more hits....just love what he brings in intensity and dedication every night.

He is doing something you don't see many guys do and that is adjust his swing to the pitch, watch him tonight and see what I mean. Keith Hernandes noticed it and now I see what he was talking about. It is something my dad tried to teach me a long time ago but I was never really been able to do it or get very good at it. Just another plus for this outstanding player.

So whats next, well I will tell you what, a lot of very interesting baseball thats what.

It is gonna get really interesting over the nest week. Think about the possibilities, if the Mets and Phillies end up in a tie for the end of the season, and both are going to be in the post season, or lets say they both finish ahead of the Brewers and everybody else in the wild card, then there is no play off game and the Mets win the division cause they would have won the series with the Phillies. BUT, if the Mets and Phillies tie AND the Brewers have a better record (yeah right) there would have to be a one game playoff for the division.
Now lets take this one step further, and here is were it gets really interesting, if the Mets Phillies and Brewers all tie together, then the Mets and Phillies would have a one game playoff for the division and (wait for it) the winner would play the Brewers for the wild card.

So its wide open kids, with only 10 games to go a lot can happen.

Well, a lot to celebrate about last night’s game.

We finally won one in Atlanta, and with the Phillies loss we got back to first place.
Really a terrific game, typical of a pennant race game, sooo much fun.
Jose Reyes continuing with his September come back with a shot off a breaking ball to start the game with a run.
Unfortunately D Wright did not get his groove back yet, in fact he was just plain awful in early innings both at the plate and on the field. He actually committed two errors but was only charged with one. Then he redeemed himself a little by bringing in two RBIs. Church continues to struggle, and although he feels fine with no ill effects from his injury, has yet to start producing nearly as well as before he got hurt. If only David and Ryan could get it together we could be in great shape. They will, I jus no they will.

The hero of the game for me was of course Daniel Murphy, that kid MUST PLAY EVERY DAY and with a load of righty’s coming up to pitch, I am sure he will. Evans had a good day also with a solo homer but prolly won’t be back over the next few days at least not against the righty pitchers.

I got really worried when Ollie went only 6 innings, I thought, damn the pen is going to have to get 9 outs. Yikes, were doomed, check please.
So then, as Gary Cohen calls it, the circus parade began.
First up Figueroa, who bombed so after two batters here comes Jerry,
NEXT!
Out comes Rincon and one batter later here comes Jerry again,
NEXT!
Out comes Heilman, (oh God just shoot me now), but he got the out we needed.
However that was all Jerry was gonna trust him with so,
NEXT!
Out comes Feliciano, who also got the out he was brought out to make, so all in all not a bad pen outing.
Next up Brian Stokes, and man did he ever deliver, with two awesome innings to shut em down and win the game.

There is still talk about Maine coming back as early as Monday. Possibly in a bull pen situation. I am ok with that a long as he does not hurt himself, I only want him back healthy. He still has the spur that needs attention but if he can pitch a couple in relief I say why not, The Mets just have to be careful and not make the same mistake they made with Church. But I gotta tell ya if the doctors think its ok and John comes out in the 8th or 9th I will be in pig heaven for sure. Another thing to be concerned about is Stokes, he has, for the most part, been good for us, don’t want the Mets to just push him aside for Maine.

Abs will hate me for this, but I was sorta hoping the Cubs would have clinched this weekend, that way when we see them next week they may rest their big guns. They lost to the Cards on Friday so it may not work out that way for us.
Abs, I know, I am a bad boy, but I hope you understand it’s nothing personal, but it’s my Mets, and I want every advantage for them.

So Pedro tonight which means a lot of work for the pen. Maybe he will go six although I don’t expect him to go more than five. I hope to see Knight and Parnell in there and of course Stokes.

Good news for Mets fans is that the Cubs clinched today(sorry,Abs)(*8*)

Bad news is that Pedro wasn't great but the bullpen held.....and the Mets offense could do nothing against these really mediocre Braves, and that's what is so frustrating about them.A 4-2 loss, and we're fortunate we have the releling Brewers to hand us the wild card on a silver platter if we can't overtake the Phillies.A game like tonight gives me doubts how much this Mets club really wants it.When your two runs are driven in by Pedro Martinez, your offense is taking the day off. There are no Madduxes,no Glavines,no Smoltzes in their primes to overwhelm the Mets....just mediocrity and it pisses me off we can't beat second and third rate pitchers, let alone give them a battle.:grrr:

My feelings exactly Sausy, I mean how pathic is it when the only runs scored were driven in by Pedro. What the Hell is wrong with these guys and those sleeping bats, against this broken down Atlanta pitching staff? Sooo frustrating.
So Pedro did as much as I expected, too bad about that first killer inning, but that's what he always seems does in the first inning.
But I liked the fact that the pen did a good job again. That's encouraging.

Yeah, right now the Phillies magic number is 8, so we have plenty of opportunity to clinch. Also our wild card chances are even better. So I see us in the post season for sure, and looking forward to next week and the Cubs series.
The Cubs of course have gone as far as they are gonna go.

Gentlemen, really :##:

We all know the phillies are no threat

They always fizzle out at the end of the season ](*,)

Awwww, thanks for those warm comforting words.

As my beloved Aunt Marie would say, "your lips to Gods ears" :D

So D Wright finally gets hot and I'm thinkin, YES
So of course the rest of the team goes cold and the bull pen comes in and fucks everything up again](*,)

Good thing I have a party tonight cause I need to get drunk......and laid
And of course catch some of the last Yankee game at the stadium.
Damn I hope they win that game

Ididn't have the urge to post after Monday night's 9-5 loss and I had to work last night, and though it's frowned on at work I had to keep checking my cellphone for updates. That performance last night is why we got Johann Santana for....he gave us eight strong innings after a bit of trouble early, struck out ten batters and even helped his cause at bat and on the bases.David Wright continues to bounce back with two more hits and even more critically two RBI,and Jose Reyes clearing the bases like that had... to have Mets fans excited....he slumped a bit earlier in the month but appears primed for a big finish.

Phillies and Brewers also lost,so we're up 2 in the wild card and down one and a half in the division.Don't forget, this weekend the Cubs and Brewers go at each other,so hopefuilly if we can open a little more room the Cubs will finish off the Brew Crew for us!

I wasn't feeling good last night after work and pretty much went to bed right after I got home(cold and congestion)...but the Brewers did win over the Pirates, keeping pace with the Mets one game out of the wild card..My bad...real bad!!oops!

Games like tonight prove Oliver Perez is so unworth big money....fucking oaf gets staked to a big 5-1 lead following David Wright's classic at bat bases loaded walk and Carlos Delgado's subsequent huge grand slam off a riled, rattled Carlos Zambrano....and he can't last five fucking innings with his wildness and dithering pathetic approach...then comes Duaner"useless" Sanchez,to of course give up the game tying hit...fucking loser Perez and this god knows what bullpen!:grrr:

Fuck,Daniel Murphy got robbed!Smashed the ball down the line and Lee was there to make the play on reflex! And there were two on,none out....Being a Mets fan is risking having your heart broken in a milllion pieces:cry:and I'm sorry Robert,I so hate the Cubs now!:grrr:Two more innings....for that glorious Mets bullpen....and Milwaukee is poised to tie us in the wild card race.Maybe we just aren't good enough, after seeing heartless, clueless Oliver Perez' travesty.:(

Another golden opportunity and the mets STILL fuck it up!Damn,Aguayo should have forced the action and sent Delgado earlier....now Daniel Murphy lines a hustle triple WITH NOBODY OUT and winds up getting erased at home by the increasingly useless Ryan Church.Disappointed David Wright struck out,but he's probably trying too hard....Ryan is actually getting worse after his return from the concussion complications and is now in full slump mode,at the very wrong time!I stand by my declaration that being a Mets fan is risking your heart to be broken in a million pieces!:cry:now the relief is holding up but he offense is stagnating with no clutch hitting .....does this team really want it,other than Johann Santana who proved what winner is Tuesday night!

It's done....and the heart is broken in a million pieces yet again.:(This offense has got to find ways to push it to the opponent....you make your breaks, you win.You press, you don't put the ball in play or force walks or force rushed throws you lose. This offense really isn't that reliable last three batters right now,and if Omar Minaya gets an extension without one given to Jerry Manuel, this organization is gutless.

Are we going to run out of tomorrows yet again?Milwaukee is finding its heart when it most needs it,do the Mets really have one or is it yet another tease? If is,no one but Johann Santana,Mike Pelfrey,Jose Reyes,Carlos Delgado,David Wright or Carlos Beltran should expect a job next year.....maybe Daniel Murphy but all must keep up and improve because that's wehat their opponents will do.But this club has to change the way it does things, both with its very poor relief corps and its very inconsistent offensive threat.Mets fans know you can't win every year, but they damn well should expect every game played to be won.

Boy,I would like to see sonny or someone post soon..........hate to think I was having a conversation with myself!#-o

Thanks sonny and I look forward to reading your perspectives.Four more games, including possible rainouts tomorrow and Saturday with the real possibility of rainouts and makeup doubleheaders.the longest four games of the season for the Mets fan.Like I said,I know we can't win every year....but do we have to give games away, constantly fail to execute either on the relief end, offensive end....Mets fans deserve best effort, more heart and drive and professionalism...no more,no less.
