New York Mets 2012

Wow, what a great victory last nite!! I was watching the Rangers hockey game, but switched in time to see the Mets ninth against Papelbon, and certainly loved Valdespin hitting the 3 run bomb to win the game!! How exciting for him to get his first major league hit that way!! ...and Mick Nickeas with a timely double in place of Josh Thole. The bullpen did a nice job, especially Parnell getting into and out of trouble, however it has cost us Josh Thole for at least a few games, I would think. I guess we'll hear more later today on his status/health. Francisco pitched a great ninth, we need more of that, too. Let's go Mets!!!

Syam It sure was a great fun game started out dull but half way thru it got really going and oh yes that 9th was a thrill ride. It really began to unravel or the Phillies when Victorino made that bonehead attempt to block the double pay it was so outrageously against the rule I felt insulted that the fool thought he would actually get away with that. By the way when Collins came lout of the dugout it was not to dispute the call at first but rather the interference which had not been called right away but as Terry got close to the second base umpire the call was made and Terry acknowledged that and went back to the dugout. Then Charlie Manual came out to ask about it and the ump basically looked at him as if to say, seriously? Charlie sheepishly waddled back to the dugout .so fun.

As to Thole he had headraces all night and still had them this morning he is also rather sore, he is in NY now to see the doctors to determine if he did in fact suffer a concussion, the likely hood is because of that new rule put into place regarding concussions after the Ryan Church debacle josh will be probably be placed on the 7 day DL. More on that when Burkhardt breaks it all down on the pre game show at 6:30 on SNY, he has been watching this all and will have all the details then. Meantime Rob Johnson is up to take the spot when Thole goes on the DL

With respect to Shortstop Valdespin will play there tonight but Turner will play the position on Wednesday. As to Valdespin’s fate with Ronny Cedeno back on Friday, and its unlikely Valdespin survives that roster cut.

Lineup tonight Torres-CF, Nieuwenhuis-LF, Wright-3B, Duda-RF, Murphy-2B, Davis-1B, Valdespin-SS, Nickeas-catches Batista

So great seeing Valdespin's three run homer..God that was just so much fun getting it done in Philly and surviving Halladay, who was tough but a little uneven.Tonight was even more fun as we at least take the series, hoping for a sweep in Philly(ain't it Amazin'!)(!)on Wednesday.Batista started off rough tonight, but he didn't break after giving up four runs.Balanced attack and the best part was scoring three runs late to extend the lead after falling behind early.Nice bullpen job and every time we can do it to the Phillies I'm fucking ecstatic!

Looks like Josh Thole may miss more like two weeks than seven days after suffering that concussion on that Ty Wigginton play.Tough break, concussion injuries are scary and the Mets have seen their fair share, but even Collins doesn't think Wigginton's slide was dirty, just happens sometimes.Hopefully Josh will be feeling better soon and back behind the plate. With Tejada pulling his quad(which he said actually caused him to fall awkwardly at first base, face down)we seem snakebit...we have that heart and spirit to win,but still we take a step backward with every gain. One of these days we'll put together a great wtring of games, and not lose someone in the process!

I had a lot of apprehension about Batista and in the first few innings after giving up 4 runs I thought he was going to crash and burn but he settled in as the game went on. You could defiantly see him getting into a rhythm. Remember, Other than that double header he hasn't started all year, so it's been a while. The turning point came as early as the second inning when he began using all of his pitches we then saw him go to his changeup more and there was improvement in his slider. The outing was enough for Terry Collins to commit to him for at least the next spot in the rotation next week, if he continues to settle in and pitch well I could see him staying in till Chris Young returns which will probably be by the end of the month. Chris is scheduled to throw 75 pitches tomorrow for A St. Lucie, I will be getting info on that and pass it on. If Batista fails in the meantime we still have Jeremy Hefner in our back pocket. Jeremy by the way has doing very well in AAA.

I just wanted to mention that Matt Harvey continues to pitch really well; yesterday he tossed six scoreless innings in Buffalo.

Zack Wheeler will be coming off the 7 day DL in a few days and will reenter the rotation in Binghamton Before he tore that fingernail his ERA was 1.75. Zack threw a bullpen session yesterday without difficulty.

You may have heard that Josh Thole may be out for more than just the seven days and what you need to know is that Josh was placed on the 7 day DL by a rule regarding concussions it had to be done that way. What that means is that after the 7 days he can be cleared to start activities or given an additional 7 days after completing a minimum of seven days, also according to that new rule he can remain on for eight, nine, 10 or any number beyond that before being activated. On doctors orders Josh must spend the next seven days doing absolutely nothing and he is home doing just that. It is conceivable based on how he recovers for Josh to be out as long as three weeks, of course we all hope it will be sooner and could very well be but one of the problems is that it’s not his first concussion he has had two others already in his short career so that comes into play as well. I do not have contact info on Josh so I can not speak to him directly, I will rely on Burkhardt to keep in touch with Josh and monitor his progress.

Valdespin proved last night not to have the best shortstop abilities he was rusty at best sure I don’t expect him to be here for very much longer. Hopefully Tejada returns quickly, by the way when Thole went in to be checked in for concussion Rubin went with him to be checked out as well but Rubin was cleared of any concussion. Meantime Justin Turner will play at short tonight and probably tomorrow as well but that’s mostly due to the Phillies lefty on the mound although clearly Justin is better at the position at least based on what we have seen so far. Valdespin was out working early today on catching throws at the second-base bag with Teufel and Racaniello.

Lineup for the sweep tonight Torres-CF, Murphy-2B, Wright-3B, Hairston-RF, Rottino-LF, Turner-SS, Davis-1B, and Johnson will catch Gee-

I don’t usually like to do this but if I may go off topic just a bit. I am hearing that Obama has finally endorsing gay marriage. Well better late than never, and oh by the way, Ron Darling did that a year ago...|

Last night was our 1th comeback win and cause it was the Phillies it was just that much sweeter.
Of course the highlight of the game for me was seeing Ike come out of his slump he needed that bad as of course did the Mets.
Got into Orlando to my sisters house late last night headin to Miami in a bit where the team is taking a well deserved day off in South Beach. Looking forward to seeing the Marlins new park, prolly won’t post any more today or Friday I’ve got a lot going on, head back to NY Sunday night.

See you guys Saturday.

That ball is outta here!

I had to hold off celebrating and have sonny come in here with that!;)Feel so good for Ike with that three run blast, got two hits and maybe he can feel relaxed at the plate and really start getting going! The Philly bullpen was atrocious, and the Mets yesterday just pounded them!Checking out the score after working late Wednesday and seeing 10-6 ,great team effort plus Ike having the big home run I was feeling so giddy!Sweep, sweep, sweep!!!I'm proud of our boys,we may still have some real flaws as a team but no one doubts our heart, resiliency, and talent now.All I have to say to Scrub is that we still love ya,nothing personal!:p

Fucking hate to lose games like this, scoring three runs in the eighth with contributing back to back doubles by Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Mike Baxter.Another great night by David Wright with three hits and Ike Davis slugging another home run.Not going to rip on Ike on the error, was a tough play....and a professional job by Johann Santana, gave up three runs and wasn't as sharp as recent efforts but overall solid effort,he keeps the Mets in the game, finds ways to get people out.

But Frank Francisco,:mad:we can't allow for this,he's gotta put people away. You don''t want to break a great streak, especially when you come back yet again and take the lead.He needs to get his act together pronto, and not fool us for one or two games before reverting to bad habits.I telll ya sonny, syam, all you guys....Francisco scares me when he's out there, and hasn't given consistent reason to feel otherwise.

Last nite was a bummer of a way to lose a game, but the Mets bounced back today behind RA Dickey to smoke the Marlins. DWright with 4 hits, and the 3-4-5 guys really came through to ignite the victory. It certainly helped that Nolasco was a bit wild with walks and hit batters including Dickey. Since he continued to pitch, hopefully this will just be a bruise for him. The way the Mets get injured, I figured a broken bone for sure. Baxter had another pinch hit extra base hit with a long double to center. Total team effort, good defense and great baserunnning on several occasions. Let's go Mets!!

I wish I could be as short, sweet and to the point as syam, but being both Italian and from North Jersey, afraid that isn't possible!;)
Great bounceback by the Mets,9-3 over the Marlins led by a solid effort by RA Dickey.Manny Acosta still manages to make things not
so easy but the rest of the bullpen, even DJ Carrasco who finished, shut the door after Dickey pitched six innings, allowing two runs on nine hits. The key to Dickey is even if he doesn't sparkle he usuaslly doesn't beat himself, and that was the case today.

David Wright had four hits including a long home run and two run scoring siongles,Daniel Murphy had three hits and scored two runs, and Lucas Duda added three hits.Andres Torres continues to do a solid job knocking in two runs on a single.Jose Reyes did smack four hits against his old club but the most important thing was the bounceback from Friday night's meltdown by Frank Francisco that has continued to plague the Mets as a legitimate worry not being dependable to close out games so far this season. The resiliency and toughness of this club has been it's most heartening characteristic so far this season which has made our boys one of the pleasant surprises of MLB,though Mets fans knew that these guys really were hungry and determined to battle even in spring training.

I’m back! Thanks to saucy and Syam for keeping things going while I run around Miami trying to stay outta trouble. I got to Miami late Thursday afternoon and went directly to the Mets hotel, I was on a mission to see my boy Ike Davis who until Wednesday had been struggling so badly I needed to talk with him get his thoughts on what was going on I was concerned abut how he was doing. When I got there I found Murphy, Nieuwenhuis and Duda and we went down to the beach where Ike and Justin Turner where, after a few howzit goings I asked Ike if we could go somewhere and talk, we went to this juice bar which was fairly empty sat down and his first words were “I know hat you are going to say” I told him I was concerned about his problems and how awful he looked on TV in the dugout he just looked so desponded. Ike said he had been feeling better the last couple of days and thought his at bats were improving. Of course he had just had that awesome day in Philly with a double and two run homer which really gave him his confidence back. As Ike explained it he was trying really hard and he understood the problems with his being out in front of the ball and keeping his front shoulder from flying open. He changed the bat positioning and avoided starting to fast, he understood the problems totally but until Philly just could not seem to get it together. He spoke about Murphy and how he wished he could approach his at bats the way Daniel does. Ike considers Murph an artist at the plate who analyses every pitch almost never swings at bad pitches always seems to know when to take a ball, where Ike on the other hand feels he goes out there and hacks away at everything, basically just chaos. Guys, you needed to see the look of sincerity on his face and in his eyes you would have felt as bad as I did for having bashed him around so much he really was trying very hard. After giving him a big hug and telling him how proud I was of him we headed back out to the beach where I spoke with Turner who said “so what did he tell you” I told JT what Ike had said, Justin and Ike are sharing an apartment in NY and so he saw first hand how much Ike’s troubles were bothering him. He would come home night after night and just be all quite and somber struggling with his situation; it was hard to see him like that. Justin also agreed that he saw a change coming with Ike and everyone in the clubhouse was trying to help Ike get thru. But that’s the way it is in that clubhouse with all the guys I have seen it first hand, I know Burkhardt has talked about it often, a closer loving bunch of guys on the same team does not happen everyday day. It all begins with DWright who leads by such great example every player respects and adores David so much he is always there for everyone; it is truly a bunch of brothers that enjoy cheering each other on and helping one another out. After speaking with Ike I felt a lot better abut how he was doing he seemed to be doing ok and his confidence is returning. Of course he will have his bad days but I really do believe he has turned the corner and is bouncing back.

I mentioned that Duda was there as well and this was the first time I ever saw him so talkative, Lucas it turns out has a terrific sense of humor he just took a while to come out of his shell, this fame thing took him by surprise and still can’t get used to the idea that fans will come up to him and ask for an autograph, who me?? He is not an unfriendly kind of guy he is just a really private and shy kid who all of a sudden has begun to open up and get more involved with his teammates, he talked to me about the rush he feels going out on the field and how much more comfortable he is getting in right field especially with the new dimensions at Citi. I later joked to Murphy, DUDA TALKS!!! WHO KNEW :D

I did want to comment on the new Marlins Park which I did not like very much. For one thing it is way too big for my taste, it is gynormous. It is also kinda tacky looking with all that puckie green color that does not match well with the blue walls and seats, Yuk. Then there is that monstrosity in center field that announces a Marlins home fun, I mean have ya seen that thing? Good grief, now I know what a rainbow would look like if it threw up  They even have live fish in tanks left/right behind home plate I have to think that glass is pretty strong to take any balls that might hit it but how about those poor little fishies I mean how would you like to be home swimming around in your house mindin your own business and this 90 MPH fastball hits your house I gotta think by the time the season is over there a gonna be a lot of shell shock fish in that tank.
Last of all there is that retractable roof, now I get it when it rains it will be nice to have but the last two days have been sunny and beautiful outside not hot with low humdidity, so why in heck did they keep the roof closed? I’m sorry but that is not the way to watch a baseball game all closed in like that, it may be fine for hockey or basketball but not baseball there is just something unnatural about that. It may also be why the grass in some spots looks so bad it needs sunlight. There are a ton of wide high windows in the outfields so that sorta helped but still I felt very closed in and did not like it at all.

They have a Clevelander nightclub right in the park it’s in left field right next to the bull pen. A bunch if us went in Friday after the game and hung out a while I did not care for the music which was heavy on the salsa side I asked the DJ if that was the only music he played and he said “pretty much” Burkhardt said you can actually hear the music in the stands during games.

That was a very scary sight seeing Dickey hit by that ball I spoke to Diilon Gee later and he said that RA and Collins decided since the wrist felt a little stiff he would leave the game to play it safe. But later last night he felt much better and said he did not think he needed an X-ray and is not expected to miss a turn in the rotation. I am sure we will learn more after RA wakes up today and sees how he feels but it looks like it will not be a deal, Finally I have to mention what an outstanding job Mike Nickeas did catching Dickey, that was no easy task I can tell you and there was concern with Thole out if Mike was up to the challenge of catching the knuckleball but he was great.

Whew! Think I have written enough for now I will be going down to the park soon to watch DP and after the game and some Mexican food head back home to NY

Thanks sonny...great to see that kind of personal perspective, especially when dealing with the guys directly.Hopefully Ike will be fine soon,I had just thought his command of the strike zone was good, and getting better before the injury. It has to be frustrating though to really want to stay in good habits but just not for whatever reason get into a groove.Justin and Daniel seem to be the best kind of guys to hang with and be friends, they may have gpoofy sides but really seem to have a good, strong mental makeup.Loving the Dude himself unleashed:palways read he was really a low key guy who never got stuck up or big headed about his talent....just gotta keep realizing his talent, keep being one of the guys and not lose that gentle giant personality, but grow to revel in it and help other guys along the way as these guys helped make him more comfortable.I'm very happy to see David Wright really being the leader everyone thought he could be.Never one to beat his chest or proclaim it,just doing the thinhgs a real leader does by example,in the clubhouse, dugout and on the field.

On a very unhappy note,I saw that we were leading 4-2 goiing to the bottom of the ninth and felt so good I said, nah,I'll check the final when I get home. Then I come home and se that the Marlins scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth, off the usual suspects Frank Francisco and Manny Acosta.Topped off by a game winning grand slam by Giancarlo(formerly Mike)Stanton.Jon Niese pitches six gutsy innings battling flulike symptoms and then Frank Francisco gives up a leadoff triple,a walk,a single, leaves the game whining about the umpiring....Manny"C'mon Baby Light my Fire"Acosta then does his recent schtick getting more runners in position for Stanton's walk off grand slam.Six run ninth, lose 8-4.Fucking frustrating....won't say demoralizing because these aree a resilient group of guys. However, when you get two runs off the Marlins beleaguered closer Heath Bell in the ninth, you think you're in great position to hold on to the win. With Frank and Manny though, you don't have relief, you have arsonists fanning the flames for their next fire.Until otherwise proven, for 2012 Frank Francisco and Manny Acosta are forming a combo poison pen unit that may sink our boys hopes for the really competitive, compelling season they have been showing us thus far.And I hope Terry Collins will address it quickly....these guys shape up or eat the contracts and ship out.

Ok, no more NO MORE! We need a closer pronto. Those two blown saves this week with Francisco and Acosta alone amounts to an ERA of 9 which is totally unacceptable I first thought Sandy Alderson did a decent job on rebuilding the pen but I always had doubts about Frank Francisco, and now he is a total train wreck. Terry Collins must take him out of the closer spot before anymore damage is done. My dad is a long time Mets fan as he talks about all the suffering thru a lot of ninth innings with our closers, after Franco began to lose it we have had nothing but problems. There have been some good times with guys like Armando Benitez, Braden Looper Billy Wagner and K-Rod but they also gave us a ton of agada, especially K-Rod.
Terry Collins is finally admitting we have a big problem even to go so far as to say we have eight options in the pen for closer so at least he is excepting the fact he needs to figure out a solution. I think we know Collins well enough now to know that he won’t brush off or forget Francisco's meltdown, Terry has shown us in the past that he is not afraid to make changes when they need to be made, which I love to see unlike managers like Randolph and Manuel were way to forgiving. My only worry is how Franscisco salary will play in all this cause he is making $12M over two years. As Saucy suggested trhey need to "eat that"
Right now as I see it the two probables for the closer job are Jon Rauch and Bobby Parnell, they have both played that role in the past. Even thou Parnell was not all that great last year in that role we see him now as a different, dare I say better, pitcher this year. His ERA now is just under 2.25 and he is effective at keeping down the base runners and has a pretty good strikeout ratio. I know that Rauch is not really a hard thrower, but I like that he has had closing experience in Washington, Arizona and Minnesota. Which may give him the advantage in getting the spot. In addition he is an intense strike thrower and he’s had four different seasons where he’s registered double-digit saves, I think his total saves is about 60l in his career. You should also remember that as our setup man he has been one of our more dependable relievers, he has a 3-1 record with an ERA of just under 2.

Watching Franscico after the game yesterday with the pres I got a little sick to mu stomach listing to him. I mean the dude does not get it at all when asked if he thought his job was in jeopardy he said “that is up to Collins, he’s the boss. He can do whatever he wants. I'm here to help the team, I'm here to fight. Whenever I can, I'm going to try to do my best out there every time I go out. Seriously? That’s your best?? I would hate to see your worst.

With all the good we have going for us, and let’s not forget we have a lot, our bullpen ranks 28th in the majors with a 5.01 bullpen ERA. Not good kiddies.

I have been yelling and screaming about this since spring training and now there are all kinds of talk around town now about how the Mets are finally talking about an extension for DWright which is likely to happen in mid summer. Alderson is said to be “working on something” David is currently batting just over .400 As more credible reports come down you will hear it here.

You should know that Murphy is hitting .375 at home, the third highest average in NL. He also has a nine-game hitting streak I’m just sayin ;)

I don't know if Collins is going to pull Francisco for good from the closer role(and he has done well in the past, but never been consistent lights out)but he has to do something. We have had a long list of closers, even supposed lockdown ones like Billy Wagner, who gave us stretches of agita. But Francisco is clearly the worst right now...don't know if he has the makeup to be a regular closer.Sure umps make bad calls, sometimes don't give a fair strike zone....but your job is to get the other side's guys out,not take a tantrum for bad calls. You do your job. It's called "being a professional",Frank...look it up.Or better yet, pick Johann Santana's mind about it.He's got a ton of pitching wisdom to share.Avail yourself of that opportunity,Mr.Francisco.And bring Mr.NManny Acosta with you, please!!!!

Good news on the David Wright front sonny, thanks for the update!!!!Having David Wright here would be a great sign to the team and the fans that for all their crap, the Wilpons still give a shit.David hasn't been playing this frisky in awhile, and the guys really love him.He still WANTS to be here, watch the new generation grow and develop.Help take them to serious playoff contention once again...that's all a Met's fan has a right to ask of the Wilpons, after all the shit we've been through. That we are in a position to play postseason baseball, and go from there.

Daniel is picking up after last season, when before his injury he was hitting .320 with a good number of doubles. If he can continue being adequate at second, and keep hitting like that, sonny and everyone rooting for him and the Mets will be very happy indeed!;)

Well since writing my post above about Francisco Collins came out this afternoon and said that he will not make any changes in the closing position. But wait, it gets worse. He actually said Francisco is our best option right now” BEST OPTION!!! Yup that is what he said. Well Terry if you think for one second that we Mets fans believe that then you are a bigger fool then you looked when you said it. I hope my fear did not come true and it is all about the money with Francisco and Terry said what his bosses wanted him to say. Truth is I do not believe even Collins believes what he said, he can’t possibly think Francisco is our best option for closer simply because I believe him to be a great baseball man one that would never truly believe what he is saying about the closing position. He said he thinks perhaps Francisco may have been tipping pitches; ok sure what ever makes you sleep at night. I have not yet spoken to any of the payers or Burkhardt about this as yet I will after the game but I am sure the players will support Collins publically cause it is what the are all about and I would be disappointed in them if they did not. I am sure Burkhardt will be all over this tonight on pre game, he will also ask Terry Collins if Jason Bay is guaranteed his job back when he returns.

Line up tonight vs. Brewers: Torres-CF, Nieuwenhuis-LF, Wright-3B, Duda-RF, Murphy-2B, Davis-1B, Cedeno-SS, Nickeas catches Batista and GOD help us if there is a save situation Francisco will pitch, er throw, er toss or what ever the fuck he does.

Another bad break for Zach Lutz in AAA he broke his hamate bone If you are wondering the hamate is a bone on the outside (little finger side) of the wrist.

Great bounceback win last night,3-1,against Milwaukee, despite another tightrope performance by Frank Francisco, who allowed a run and still makes you bring antacids when he comes in.Great job by Miguel Batista giving the Mets seven shtout innings, followed by a strong eighth by Bobby Parnell.Daniel Murphy the offensive star with two hits and an RBI,and ole reliable David Wright scoring the third run in the eighth off of ole buddy Frankie Rodriguez.Daniel Murphy hit a bouncer to the right side and when it looked like third baseman Aramis Ramirez had David dead to wright caught between third and home;)Frankie didn't help back up the play and forced to run David home Ramirez dropped the ball for an error scoring Wright, who earlier started the inning with an opposite field double.20-15 record after the first 35 games,we definitely have the NL taking us seriously!

Appparently,Francisco has shown some unexpected ability out of all this...supposedly his media session after the game is a show in itself!Still, how long he stays the undisputed closer depends not on flashy media sessions but just getting his off speed stuff working and getting people consistently out.Velocity has been fine...location and ability to sucessfully mix his pitches have been the prime offenders in his drastic slide.

Yesterday I got all but convinced by some very “knowledgeable” sports guys who will go unnamed that Collins did the right thing with Francisco, ALMOST CONVINCED, and then he pitched again last night and ok so he got thru it and showed some good signs but stll of course as is always the case with him there was drama like when he got Ryan Braun in an 0-2 hole, only to lose him to a single up the middle, of course Braun stole second and, after a groundout, came around to score on a Corey Hart single. It was at that point I started screaming for Collins to “TAKE HIM OUT!” Somehow Frankie got out of the inning and we won the game. Then Francisco was all full of himself with the press and those fools eating it all up. Are you kiddin me? He came thisclose to blowin it again, he actually threw a few pitches that if not for the bad hitting on the Brewers part would have gone out of the park. I am trying to stay positive here, seriously I really am.

Meantime as Saucy wrote Batista's was terrific he kept the Brewers scoreless over seven giving up just four hits, in all he pitched six effective innings striking out seven he had absolutely awesome change up. There is an issue with a groin injury that has been bothering him let’s just hope that does not become a thing.

Somehow I doubt the Brewers will ever put the shift on with Murphy again cause he made fools of them but that’s our Murph. :D
Then we had more fun with the king of the rundowns DWright who scored rather than get tagged out, of course credit has to be given to Ramirez who seriously needs to learn how to play baseball.

Jason Bay is going to be going on his rehab assignment soon, I was very interested in hearing Collins speaking to Burkhardt and how he seemed to be somewhat noncommittal when KB asked if left field would be Jason job when he is ready to return. I get the sense we could see a Nieuwenhuis/Bay platoon in left field. I would certainly hope so cause there is no way Kirk sits on the bench. Jason has been cleared to begin baseball activities for the first time since he got hurt, till now he had been limited to a stationary bicycle.

Jenrry Mejia made his second rehab start for St. Lucie, and I am hearing it went well and is heading to Buffalo soon where we can keep an eye on his progress

Great news from Josh Thole he is back in town and in the clubhouse, he hasn't had any concussion symptoms since Friday and is going to the doctor today for what is called a baseline test and could be cleared for activity later today.

Weather has improved and the chances of a game tonight are very good. The lineup Torres-CF, Nieuwenhuis-LF, Wright-3B, Duda-RF, Murphy-2B, Davis-1B, Cedeno-SS, Nickeas catches Gee

WE just throw tonight into the garbage and forget about it.David Wright continues to shine with two hits but nothing else really clicked.Dillon Gee just didn't have it and you just gotta put it up to being one of those games every team has that just stinks.

Great news sonny about Josh Thole...hopefully he'll clear the test and be ready to play soon.Sonny, best quote I ever heard about Murph's confidence,at least being in the lineup,is when asked what his best position was he replied without hesitation"Third in the batting order"....I seriously think in a year or so he can be like Keith Hernandez was as a third place hitter, maybe a bit more power...15-20 homers,100 or so RBI....,310-.320 average,40-50 doubles. He really has that kind of swing and ability.

Yep,if Jason Bay is ready to play soon he has to earn time, and Kirk has shown so much already that you just can't sit him...a platoon may not be ideal but for the Mets right now it's probably the best way to keep guys fresh and getting playing time.

Great win this afternoon,9-4 over the Reds....Dickey was solid as usual and the bullpen didn't mess up,thankfully.David Wright had another fantastic game, and even Fred Wilpon seems pretty jazzed up to give David a well deserved extension. Not only is he earning praise for his play in the field but his leadership and fiery team first personality as demonstrated by his dugout jaw session with Terry Collins over taking a hit for the team when the thankfully released DJ Carrasco after getting lit up smacked Brewer's Ryan Braun with a pitch the other night.Colllins toook out Wright and other leading hitter Daniel Murphy as not to potentially lose important cogs on this club as we've more than our fair share of injuries and mishaps.Collins and Wright respect each other immensely but there was no doubt David would have taken one for the team in retaliation,as Braun is the Brewer's leading player.Even Braun and the Milwaukee GM talked about their admiration for not only the skills but the personality and character David shows.Hopefully before this winter Sandy Alderson can announce a five or six year extension for DWright,as losing him after next year to free agency just when the Mets seem to be poised for significant improvement over thids and especially the next few seasons would be devastating.

Finally, thought sonny was going to come out with it so I wanted to hold back but it is finally official and the Mets will be hosting the MLB All Star game in 2013,on July 16.Big press conference and my favorite mascot of all time Mr Met off course was in the house attending the conference and a big thing that will come out of the festivities the day before the All Star game will be a huge fan festival at the Jacob Javits Coference Center on the West Side of Manhattan.Looks like it's going to be an "Amazin"All Star Weekend, the first time the Mets get the festivities since back in the early Shea Stadium days in 1964.

Okay, so it was an up and down week, some horrible losses, including last nite, but some good victories as well. As we know the bullpen is very inconsistent. We're probably going to have to live with that for the season. Jettisoning DJ Carrasco was a good start to refurbishment, he just never looked like he was going to be effective, last year or this one. Manny Acosta has had a few good outings, but for the most part, in my book, he should be next to go. Looks like DWright will get today off to try to recover from his ailment, hopefully, some chicken soup is all that is required. Still a shot to take the series with two wins, today and tomorrow, Let's go Mets!!

I just traded Roy Halladay for David Wright in fantasy baseball. David better be worth it...
