New Zealand flag mistake ?

Black – represents Te Korekore, the realm of Potential Being. It represents the long darkness from whence the world emerged. It represents the heavens. The male element is formless, floating and passive.



Well some might debate that point with reference to the Constitution Act 1986.

If that is the case, it is even more correct to exclude the black colour from a national symbol

I think a flag should not have any black colour what so ever.
New Zealand has chosen the Bottom Left flag to compete with the current flag.
Do you think they choose the right flag??

They should have choose the Top Right flag.

As New Zealand sports stars wears black& or white color.
Maybe they should choose just black and white color ONLY ? That would be so simple, distinguishable from other flags, therefore easily recognizable, therefore good choice, therefore good flag !!!

Those red things are supposed to be water lilies but if you ask me they look like smacked bums. Perhaps they're into spanking in Friesland. I would prefer it if they were upright, with the cracks pointing vertically. Also they are unevenly spaced which is not very neat.

Totally one of my favourites because I am 1/2 Frisian.

We display this flag at our farm gates whenever we have a family gathering.

I voted for the flag that eventually became the choice. I don't understand why we should have Britain's flag on ours any more. Britain abandoned us long ago when they joined Europe. I'd like to see NZ emerging into a strong, independent country. Our ties are more with the Pacific and Asia now.

I agree with my NZ friends who say that this exercise in self onanism is a monumental waste of tax payer money.

Yes, it does appear that the majority of us still favour Britain's flag on ours. Why, I have yet to work out? The old flag will win the final referendum unfortunately. Why do you see it as a waste of money?

Perhaps they are. Or perhaps their flag was designed by someone into spanking -- a spanker, specifically. The angle at which they are displayed on the flag is pretty similar to the angle at which a spanker would view the spankee's smacked bum whilst over his lap.

I guess it's better that they had a spanker instead of a wanker.

As for the Kiwis, it's their flag not mine. So I don't really care what they change it to.

Well, it's a great flag for a British Colony, which NZ was at the time it was introduced, and no longer is. Look what you guys did with your flag. You'd never go back to the Union Jack now after the Maple Leaf. The silver fern means more to me personally than the Union Jack. Most of our soldiers overseas are buried under a silver fern motif.

However, we're going to retain that flag, by popular demand. So it's all academic anyway.

I personally find the leaf motif a far less stately element than the color black. It has the feeling of a brand, or logo. A nation need only identify itself, not advertise.

If they at least avoid that dippy swirl, they won't have done the worst.

Since when did they say they would change their flag, and erase the other one from history?

Changing a flag is merely acknowledging that the identity of your country has changed, and wanting to reflect that.

I personally liked the bottom left one best, but maybe that is because it is a brighter blue than the top right. Although black can indicate a funeral, I don't associate it with funerals alone. Also the black doesn't dominate it. In any case someone has already said it was decided so it is a moot point.
