News I wasn't expecting

Dump on us all you want, soreknees. And by dump, I mean within sanitary reason.

It's wonderful to hear that your long-term health is looking brighter :D :D :D :D
But you can't control your hand? That would drive me nuts! All the best wishes with your next surgery - I'm sorry you've got to have it at all. It sounds like you're ready for anything at this point, though (UU)

It's SO refreshing when a mod becomes "human" and spills it.

Anyway.....surgery? How extensive? It usually requires an MRI to pinpoint that kind of trouble and you make no mention of that.
"Surgery" can vary anywhere from a "simple" epidural steroid injection (or two), which really IS a walk in the park for the patient, to more invasive means.
You've been through quite a ride already.......with a fantastic outcome.......you can do it again....... ;)

^Thanks for the kind words. I've had an xray, EMG, and an MRI. I was born with a thin spinal column, have arthritis, and the nerve is pinched into an hourglass shape. I've lost a lot of function in my hand. The surgeon said I need 5,6 and 7 fused. I'm getting a second opinion on Tuesday.

Sorekness, I wish only the best to you!

May your condition improve back to normal as quickly as possible!

Thanks again guys. The surgery in next Wednesday. I've had three opinions and the last two would add one more thing and the third would add two more things. They are going in from the back to fuse and add more space for a nerve. I was told there will be a lot of pain afterwards. I'm not looking forward to this. Thanks for your support.

Go for it.

Will send some extra positive thoughts you way on the 20th.

You have friends and loved ones...soon you will be able to

enjoy them again...|

Well, here I am in my hospital bed beginning the recovery process. Ten screws in back, but far removed from where my dirty mind takes me! The pain is not pretty, but I'm hanging in there. The hospital staff is great as are you guys. I have the best partner ever and a support system second to none, which includes two children. Life is grand even with the pain.

All the best to you :) ten screws doesn't sound like something to be envious of  but if they make room for the nerve you will have less pain when this pain has passed.
have a speedy recovery!

Ouch. Rest and recover as quickly as you can - and make sure they keep you topped up with pain killers while you need them!

Look forward to hearing about you being ready for that "chase round the dining room table" in due course. (*8*)

Surgery was one week ago. I'm home since last Saturday. Was was to the doc yesterday also went to lunch with my daughter. Went out again today for lunch with a caregiver.

There are 2 rods and 10 screws really deep. I'll be in a collar for 6 to 8 weeks. Can pretty much shower and dress and the horrific pain is managed. I'm trying to get to my favorite forum, Relationships, etc. as often as I can.

Life is grand. I may not always like the hand I'm dealt, but there could be surprises anywhere along the way.

Two goals after this healing, losing all the weight I need to lose and getting a boner even if it means the injection and nailing my partner till Michelle Bachman delivers a Minnesotan hot dish to our door confessing, though tears, how little she knew of the longevity of gay relationships and how much partners mean to one another.

Alright, I'm on some good pain meds and having fun fixing the universe. But I am getting out and about.

WOOHOO!

take care and may every day of healing bring you happiness.

:) :D :)

Your strength and spirit continues to profoundly inspire me.

Dude, you fucking rock. :lol2: I hope I can find this thread again when life throws me it's biggest surprises.

Best of luck, and all the wellest wishes (*8*)

I'm trying to do my best and to get out for sanity reasons and to walk which is the best rehab right now. I'm trying to wean myself off of som of the stronger drugs.

I'm feeling ok. The collar is a bit of a pain, but not bad. Sometimes I become hyperverbal and quite entertaining, if I do say so myself. I'm pretty much speaking my mind, but hopefully in an honest and respectful way. My partner is great even though we do argue a lot. We also laugh a lot.

Besides my neck hurting, I do miss my boner; my poor partner! He won't talk about it much because he doesn't want me feeling worse.

I'm appreciative of all of you. I continue to be grateful for a good life. I'm going to be with 4 of my siblings and my 90 year old mother tomorrow. I have great travel plans as long as I continue to heal.

soreknees: wishing you all the best for a quick, speedy, and healthy recovery. you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

You've been a great support to me. Thank you very much. I was glad you mentioned life's surprises. I think that is so much better then keeping score of the so called good and bad that happens to us. No one is out to get us and no one is favoring us over someone else. These surprises happen to form and shape us. The best a person can do is have a good number of people in their life who love and support them. I am so fortunate that way.

I find his courage to tell us about these health problems very helpful to me personally as I now am encountering some more health problems of my own.

^Good luck to you. I'm back here today to report good news. Although I'm still uncomfortable and sometimes in pain, I had xrays done today and saw the surgeon. GREAT NEWS! I'm healing beautifully and I don't need the hard collar. I looked at the xray and his work is a work of art. I thanked him for his courage to cut someone open and fix something so delicate. He said it was his job and I said I was grateful that he got involved with a branch of medicine requiring great skill and courage. The entire healing process takes a year and I'M ON MY WAY!

Great news - good to hear. :D Keep on keeping on and mending well. (*8*)

Only just found out what's going on with your health soreknees.
So glad things are going well for you. Take it all at your own pace. And be a patient patient!
I'm no stranger to cancer - and surviving! :D
You may have set backs along the way but you'll get back to (near) normal in good time.

Lots of love and my best wishes to you.
