As part of an interview with Wolf Blitzer today ......... Newt among many things, said he would not vote for Ron Paul for President if he was Repub nominee - hypothetical question posed by "Blitz" ;)

Newt also said - Paul will never be the candidate

"systematic avoidance of reality" was how Newt put it with regard to Paul's manner

I like Newt for his directness - not a bad trait - not very political though - as he will never get a Paul supporter if he were to somehow get the nod

"Systematic avoidance of reality" is a nice phrase. What it describes in Paul's case is a sort of Don Quixote complex, aiming at the world as it ought to be rather than it is.

He does understand it can't all be done at once. Many of his followers, though, are the real reality-challenged ones, firmly convinced that if everything non-libertarian about the government were gotten rid of overnight, we'd have utopia within the year as a result.

I'm sure Paul wouldn't vote for Gingrich, either -- he prefers honest, principled people.

CNN did some background work on Ron Paul - said in his career in the House

620 resolutions
4 came to a vote
1 passed

the guy doesn't talk to anyone else - never tries to build consensus for anything

that he is ineffectual

Hard to try to build consensus when you won't support anything you can't find explicit authorization for in the Constitution.

Yet he conflicts himself by railing against spending and then taking money for his district.

He is a sham who can capture headlines with outrageous statements.

Gingrich/Paul

Perfect GOP ticket.

Next candidates to implode please.

^ Rachel Maddow had a great bit last nite ....... about the Republican "bubble"
Trump
Bachman
Perry
Cain
Gingrich

who's next?

she says ......... Rick Santorum

I would love to see all those filthy little skeletons hiding out in Ass Juice's closet unearthed by media scrutiny.

if every dollar of the federal budget was earmarked then we would know who is overspending for their district.

the budget process is screwed. first they determine the size of the budget, then they determine where it's spent (ie using "earmarks"). by that logic, earmarks do NOT increase the size of the budget; they merely direct the already agreed upon spending.

Gingrich's mouth seems to be doing what it is said his mouth would do. He is correct that Doctor Paul will not be the republican nominee. Doctor Paul is not a Republican.
