Next phase with my busine$$ plans... getting an office?

Re: Next phase with my business plans... getting an office?

LOL ok I have a home office in my living room. But I'm about to tell you my reason why I no longer want a home office. Please don't laugh. I have 3 cats and they keep knocking my paperwork everywhere and puking on my documents.

Oh, I do understand! Get a nice new comfy and warm cat bed. Put your paperwork in there and your cats will ignore the paperwork. Just don't put the paperwork in the box the cat bed came in...that will be well used.

We gave them a giant cat tree house and several cat houses around the house. But they always ended up on my paperwork and bed.

The 4 dogs we have also have their own beds. And they pretend to sleep on their beds. But in the morning they always somehow magically appeared on our bed. Some time, all 7 animals are on our bed when we wake up.

Problem with going to an office is that you can't sit around in you undies drinking a beer while you work. My office is at home and I love it.

Says you.

I have gone to the office in my incredibly warm and (look like joggers) long johns and I will drink whatever I want at the office (although I never do).

I have worked hard all day getting shit faced on Blue Moon (the finest beer in the world ((imho)) and I don't have to drive home), that being said to each their own:luv2:

Back when I worked my corporate job, I had to always wear business casual. Nowadays, I always wear sweatpants in the winter and shorts and tank tops in the summer. That's what I wear when showing houses to potential clients. It's my own goddammit business. Take it or leave it. I wear what is comfortable to me.

Re: Next phase with my business plans... getting an office?

I am so old at this point, I normally don't even care.

And ZOOM conceals a ton of fringiness...like not shaving for a few days. Lighting is everything.

I have done the thing where I am in a pair of sweats with a turtleneck and a nice jacket for some meetings because we only see from the waist up.

I HAVE NOT been naked or in boxers or briefs below the waist though while on-line.

So this is what you need to do. Get a place where you can have a floor to ceiling bookshelf behind you with nice lighting.

Start doing your non-in-person meetings on ZOOM and make sure you have an impressive collection of books and objets d'art on the shelves.

You don't need an office.

Ya, I've decided against getting an office... for now. I still want an office when money is coming out of my ears...

The thing is my business really doesn't require meeting anyone over zoom. And when I do meet, it's in person. And I'm wearing sweats because... take it or leave it.

I'm guessing this account was made to advertise your website. That said, I used to be a software developer. So all the software I'm using for my business are in-house developed. Absolutely zero chance of getting hacked. I'll probably eventually publish all my software for others in my line of business to use. But in the mean time, no chance in hell anyone will be able to hack me.

OMG!

Soon, I will have an honest to god OFFICE!

So, one of the buildings I own has a laundry room. People keep bumping heads with each other no matter what I have done. I've put up a schedule board so people can sign up to do laundry. I've sent out many messages telling people to be courteous to each other. And yet, people keep leaving their clothes in the washers and dryers.

So, a few days ago I commissioned some work to install washer and dryer hookups in every apartment there. The guys have finished 2 apartments so far. Once these are done, the laundry room will be converted to... OFFICE!

Been having my company registered address with a PO Box. Soon, I will have an honest to god real address for it. Then I can order a sign and a place to hang it.

OMG, I'm so excited. Will have an office and I won't even be renting it. It's entirely my space.

Also, did the mod edit my title? I don't remember putting $$ instead of ss.

Yes. Spambots were hitting your thread with advertisements because it has the word "busine$$ plans" in it.

It's a good thing you don't live with me because I would have so much fun with that. :-<

It is about time.

As has been pointed out, there are businesses that rent out mailboxes. Consequently, one can have a Beverly Hills address for a fraction of the cost of what an office would rent for on the same street. The only problem arises when someone looks you up on Google and up pops a picture of the mailbox business. This didn't use to be the case.

You could also rent a space in a shared office--not sure what the common name for such a place is--but there are loads of them in Los Angeles. You rent a space and have access to a conference room. A receptionist controls entry to the collection of offices. Not far from where I live a department store was converted to one.

Nah, I don't like having to rent a space that I rarely ever use. Turning that laundry room in that building into my office and make that my official company address I think is the best solution so far.

Also, my business really isn't about selling stuff or getting clients. I'm renting out homes. Pretty small operation. I don't really need a fancy place.

My thinking is I will have a desk setup in there. A printer. Copy machine. Cabinet files. Decorations. I probably won't use it very much. It will serve the purpose of being a physical address.

But, will it have a bathroom?? Just kidding....not really though. Maybe those apartments in that building will need more unannounced inspections!

Last year I had my plumbers put in a bathroom with shower and toilet in the basement. That building pretty much has everything I need to run my business out of. It will serve as the seat of my power.
