i can say with pride that i don't listen to the anything on the top 10
....YAY

I don't even know what 7 of the top 10 sounds like, including the #1 song in the country.

There have been times when the Top 10 (hell, Top 50) was whiter'n Wonder Bread. Right now, pop radio is R&B/hip-hop based rather than rock based. At some point, it won't be.

Thanks renegade! In the 80's I was obsessive about going to the library and reading Billboard magazine and the HOT 100 and especially the album rock charts--AOR. I knew all the artists and bands in the hot 100 too. Now, I must be getting old, but I know 1/3 of the artists. I know the Plain White t's. But I would have never thought that there would be a number one song in Billboard's hot 100 where I didn't know the artist or had never heard of the song, but it happens all the time now. Times are a changin'! iTunes does help though, as I can at least check out the top songs, many of which are crap!

I don't wanna point out the elephant in the room, lol, but I hope there isn't too much mourning in here: Riahanna's "Shut Up And Drive," in only it's eighth week peaks at No. 15 and begins it's downward descent.

Renegade_killerbee, do you have a problem with blacks dominating the charts next week? It seems to me that is your main issue. With your title "looks like..." you confirmed it. You basically made fun of the fact that it looks like the R&B/Rap Chart as if that is a bad thing.

That's really sad :(.
That shitty R&B, Rap is definitively the worst music of all time ](*,)

Oh really?? Well I think the music you probably listen to is the worst music of all time. So your point is?

The only reason renegade created this thread is throw the race card in the equation. As I mention in my other post.. he points out the Top 10 resembling the R&B charts like its a bad thing. And he makes sure he points out that most of the artists in the top 10 are blacks.. as if that is a bad thing or something. Although he fails to point out that the entire Top 100 is mostly Caucasian.

Pathetic.

Why are people calling this music crap?? I think this has more to do with race than anything else. The original poster who was "criticizing" that the top 10 chart has mostly black artists is an example of that.

Some whites hate to see blacks doing well to be quite honest!!

We all enjoy our own success but enjoy other people's failures much much more! It's human nature.

I hate this one...Although I agree that the OP had a definite racist slant, and should definitely be slammed for that, I do sort of agree about the music being bad. All it has is a good beat and that's it; otherwise, the themes are pretty much dead horses and there's no pretenses toward any originality, especially with the emphasis being on old school rather than having fun and being innovative. If I hear one more song that repeats the phrase, "Keeping it real", I may be forced to start shooting people myself. Rap music has gone from being relevant to being posers, and it's just not fun anymore.

At least they're not trying to justify stealing other music and playing it as their own, but it is sort of sad that the only instrument is a beatbox. It's sort of sad when those that started the music are the first to ignore it...It's not about not hating to see blacks do well; it's about getting tired of seeing the same three themes being the same ways ad infinitum. Blacks just aren't having the same fun with it as they used to, and refuse to try anything else. But, as it's basically new to the white kids, they're playing with it and seeing what it can do.

I still want to see more black country singers...

Also: There is a lot of country on that list as well...but pop always has been homogenous. Also, have you ever noticed that the easiest to stop being called "good" is to get yourself in the Top Ten? ("OMG! My favorite band sucks! Sellouts!")

Yeah, the thread topic is tinged with racism. But now that the rest of us have moved away from it, they're probably saying that the R&B/Rap songs ont he list are crap. And for the most part, I agree.

I'd only listen to Rihanna for the fun mindless pop, and I do enjoy Timberland's "Way I Are" (and much of the other stuff he has). But shit like "Shawty Snappin'" is pure unfiltered garbage. Nothing is more ironic or sad than seeing that music video right after "Way I Are".

I agree with MidnightPrism.

And I'm not even gonna dignify the racist accusation seeing as three of my top five favorite artists of all time are black (MARIAH CAREY, WHITNEY HOUSTON and PRINCE).

I hate rap music. Not a color. To me rap music isn't about a color but an annoying sound. There is no such thing as pop music or pop radio thanks to it's overlapping. That's it.
